Since you posted it, I've been watching this video regularly. After a 30-year break from racing, the Traxxas Mudboss (modified) reignited my passion for racing and the RC hobby. I finally took the plunge and purchased one yesterday. Luckily, there's a race for newcomers at my local track this July 4th holiday weekend. Your helpful tips have been invaluable, as getting back into the hobby after such a long absence can be daunting. Thank you for this, and please keep these videos coming.

Interesting deep dive into the class. Can see the transmitter aspect of the individual driver set up being a sticking point. The sound of the tyres, love it.

Bottom line is a seasoned racer should be able to drive the car with the stock radio,I’ve been in this hobby since the early 90’s,if you can drive then you adapt by hand ….

Them tires are legit the tread is what the big Dawgs use on dirt race cars late model and modified

As far as packs.. the 5200 - 5500 100c from Gens ace should be able to compete against the 2 packs you recommended. I use them on my Traxxas Mudboss. The local track is also considering using the Gensace 7600 due the amp draw. (not approved yet) I love the out-of-the-box spec for this. Evens out the racing field for newbies like me. I see more and more racers jumping in this class.

I had a good think about it and I believe it is a good idea to keep the stock radio to keep expert racers out. I think it actually is a good deterrent because many of them are seemingly allergic to a standard radio. Sponsorships notwithstanding. Think about how most spec classes get ruined. They get big when hobbyists are doing it. They get killed when the experts come in and do what experts do. Crush. -U10

I feel like this chassis spec will become the standard in a couple of years, pushing out the old, high-CG cars. What happens then? Will there still be a box-stock, super-affordable class? I sure hope so. I'm OK with allowing some additional tuning, but only if it's super affordable, and it doesn't do anything to discourage new racers. Racers, by their nature, will push for changes that reduce participation (competition), so it's up to the promoter to stand firm, and keep the class appealing to the greatest number of folks possible.

I never used dual rate stuff back in the 80’s and we all did fine. Maybe we were able to drive back then without all the gyro stuff and radios that do the work for ya

As close to box stock the better…servo seems fine as long as it’s uniform. There’s enough classes for people that want to outspend each other

Why do people keep calling it a mudboss? It's a modified.
@NoahJackson-yd9hmАй бұрын
😂 bc it’s been a thing for a long time now and Traxxas ripped it off got in trouble backed off and called it a modified it is a exact copy of a true dirt open wheel modified car as you would see at a actual speedway like eldora

These cars push bad,so get all the grease out,on hard pack you either slow way down or try sliding,getting all of the push out is next to impossible ,but they are fun to race

@@ParkflyersRC I’m being honest,we race oval every Thursday night and every other Saturday,we just raced the first class of modified and we ALL had a issue with pushing,we are running on a indoor clay hard pack high grip track,even if we role the curve they still want to push I’m being honest and don’t care if you believe me or not,I’ve been in every aspect of rc for over 30 years so take from this what you will

Try moving shocks in 2 position on rear A arms from stock setting. Left side wheel extend Rod end down 3mm. Inner shock mount position on a-arm. Only on that side. Change out 50k diff fluid for 1k grease from Kyosho. From camber ( front right -1 , front left +1, right rear -1 and left rear 0. Traction compound on front tires only. 60 weight shock oil.

I definitely don't agree with some of these new rules. I feel like transmitters should be optional not restricted to the stock TQ. At least allow binding to a TQi so people who want the settings can get them. All you said basically was that the settings weren't needed so the transmitter was locked down in the rule set to the TQ. If they aren't needed, then you should at least allow different transmitters. Let the people who want to tinker, tinker. If the difference is so little, there's no reason to restrict it.
