The best 3S set up for Slash/rustler platform I’ve found is Spectrum 85 amp/3300kv system . More power than Traxxas system and no thermal issues. Highly recommend

While those tires are great for BL2s systems they are clearly ballooning too much for the VXL system. How about trying the Gravel tires from the Fiesta ST Rally VXL? Or if you are going to do more street driving I can whole heartedly recommend the Anaconda tires.

Lol late model? This looks exactly like my modified I drive in real life. They couldn't use mudboss because they did not license it. Traxxas the most sue happy company in the world gets a taste of their own medicine. But yes this is a RC modified. Very big market for them. They are not mudboss spec, but only a matter of time before tracks have a class for them.
