I also like having more meaty tires, although I took a slightly different approach for my Rustler. Instead of using a bigger tire, I went with a smaller wheel. The low profile 2.8" tires that come stock on the Rustler have the same outer diameter as the more standard 2.2" stadium truck tire. And since the 2.2's use a smaller wheel (while having the same outer diameter) you can get more sidewall without having to worry about motor heat or re-gearing the truck.

@combofriend44613 жыл бұрын
Just curious why do ppl upgrade to brushless instead of just getting vxl up front? It's crazy that JUST the motor/esc combo is way more expensive than the price diff bw xl-5 vs vxl, but the vxl has even more upgrades than just that... plus you had to do the work yourself (which IS more fun, but just doesn't make sense to me why the pricing works out that way). As much as I enjoy DIY spending less to get more seems like away better option
@jcallesano3 жыл бұрын
@@combofriend4461 there could be several reasons why you wouldn't want to get the brushless version as first. Say you had a son or daughter who was into RC and you didn't want them you start off with something that was too powerful. Some people get bored of what they bought and always want to upgrade it. That's what I did with the two wheel drive Stampede and I upgraded it beyond belief. Everyone does things differently. I was just getting back into RC after more than 10 years off. So I started with something very simple. Now I have 5 + highly upgraded truck some doing over 100 miles an hour

@@jcallesano makes sense- I guess I'm just a little salty about realizing the price difference haha. I'm actually in that situation- my son got the basic Rustler, and it was so fun I decided to get one too. I decided to go with xl-5 too thinking we can upgrade them together, but when I realized the price difference for upgrading vs price of just buying vxl I was kind of bummed 😂 We're both inexperienced though. So maybe I should just be patient and learn/do smaller upgrades for now and decide about the engine upgrade later
@jcallesano3 жыл бұрын
@@combofriend4461 exactly. No need to upgrade if you're still learning. Those models half a 50% mode for training too. Then 100%. Going 50mph+ is cool, but if you can't control it, don't do it. That's how property gets damaged and or people get hurt. I have 100mph trucks. They're for secluded areas only.
