I missed one item the rustler vxl has a front hinge pin brace.

One of the most detailed comparisons available on KZbin. Might even be the best. Excellent way of showing what the additional money really provides since many believe it's just an esc and motor. I'd say vxl is the way to go, unless someone just wants a low price and never plans to upgrade.

My son got an xl-5 for Christmas and it was so much fun I thought I'd get one too. I thought about going vxl, but I didn't want to one-up his brand new present so I went w xl-5 thinking we can upgrade them together. It should still be fun but now that I realize the engine + esc alone is way more than the difference in price... I feel like I should've gone vxl lol... it seems way more expensive to start w xl-5 and upgrade...
@truerc2 жыл бұрын
@@combofriend4461 It definitely is more expensive to upgrade but some can't afford the higher price of the vxl at the start.

I just bought an xl5 solely to feature on my channel then intended to sell it. I haven't done any filming with it yet, but just driving it a bit the last couple days and researching it, I'm really falling in love with it and considering just keeping it. It's such a different but very fun experience compared to my arrma cars and other cars I have. My senton and typhon 3s cars are light-years better in every way, but something about the little rustler just makes you love it and want to drive it all day long. Hard to explain, but it seems many people feel the same way about it. I guess there is a reason traxxas kept the platform for nearly 30 years. When something is good, its just plain good. It's hard to deny that when it's been selling consistently since 1994. I'm glad I have one. Not sure I could call myself a real RC hobbyist without at least driving one anyways.

Here’s what I say, if your new to the hobby buy a XL-5 it’s cheap and it’s not as wild as the VXL cars can be, but if you got a bigger budget and some experience with RC cars then go for the VXL any day of the week, I thought of getting a VXL but I may get a Slash just to feel how it is as a trophy truck.
@xjwigluszx2 жыл бұрын
I noticed a lot of this when I got both versions of the Stampede 4x4. I want a Slash now and happy with XL-5 power but with get the VXL for the rest of the upgrades and just run 2S

Is the esc only thing that I would have to change to use 3s lipo
@OverBudgetRC3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend a motor and ESC to run 3s. I've heard of people using the trx4 ESC to run 3s with the stock motor. But I don't know how long that motor would last. And going to brushless you would have more power even if you stayed with 2s.

Does either radio have steering rate adjuster or just steering trim on the tx ?
@OverBudgetRC3 жыл бұрын
No they don't just the trim. The tqi on the vxl can be adjust if you add the Bluetooth module and use the app.
@superstatus26403 жыл бұрын
Is it normal for my rustler to drive straight when my steering trim is around halfway from middle to full right? I’m new to rc cars
@OverBudgetRC3 жыл бұрын
Yes that is fine the steering trim is to get the servo centered while driving, and it usually ends up not being right in the center. If you have to go all the way to one side then the servo horn might be off by a tooth or more. But if you can get it to go straight by adjusting the steering trim then its fine.

Can you actually Convert an xl-5 fully to vxl? Vxl has the clipless body right? I was looking but I couldn't find any info/parts for .how to convert xl-5 to clipless
@OverBudgetRC2 жыл бұрын
No they both have body clips only the rustler 4x4 is clipless and both the xl5 and vxl 4x4s are clipless and that can't be made to work on the 2wd.

Sorry that sounded terribly like I was hating on you specifically I just hate the fact that tracks this bullshit about their speeds your video was very thorough. But I could not refrain from letting everybody know because when they see that big 70 mph in the corner of that box, that’s why we come out of pocket.
@OverBudgetRC2 жыл бұрын
No problem I understand it sucks they do that I feel like the stock tires would explode before hitting 70. But maybe with absolute perfect conditions it can hit 70mph.....in a giant vacuum chamber 😆
@brucebruce39642 жыл бұрын
I’m sorry dude but I own both of those vehicles and every single hop up that can possibly be put on it I have and at no point did either car ever come close to what they claim with high-speed gearing or not Traxas lies about the speeds you’ll be lucky if you have a nice Lipo to get 2829 miles an hour out of the XL five and as far as the Valerian system you are not going to hit 70 miles an hour you’re just not and every hop up that you add to it just slows it down even a little bit more even at their lightest they don’t go as fast as they claim. Are they still fun sure but Traxxas lies now my in fraction it does every bit of what armor claims 79,78 miles an hour every single time they claim it does 80.

@XXke I'm broke too lol my channel brings in $35 a month I started a completely different channel and am using clipchamp now still free but way better I was editing these videos with a 10 year old computer. But it finally took a crap and I bought a brand new last years model computer on sale 😆.
@AAplefritter Жыл бұрын
nice, my channel has no income, i also has 89 subs so thats kinda the problem
@OverBudgetRC Жыл бұрын
@XXke Yeah it took me a long time to get this channel monetized probably about 2 years and it hasn't grown much. I spent way more on RC cars for this channel than I ever made on income I was losing so much money every month just to keep this channel going and I finally realized it's just not worth it. I haven't posted a video on this channel for about a month. I will be posting a new video soon. Because someone contacted me to send me some free stuff and I said I would make the video before I decided to quit so I need to still do that. But otherwise I'm just hoping the new channel will take off because this one sucks 😆. That one has 526 subscribers and 7,000 watch hours in its first month still not enough subs to get monetized but at least hit the watch hours already. I have learned 1 thing DON'T tell friends and family about your channel it will only hurt the algorithm since they probably don't actually watch those kinds of videos.
