I see people dye parts all the time. They come out looking good. My question is how deep does the dye go? I mean does the slightest surface scuff show through or does it go deep enough it takes it??
@clodbusted17764 жыл бұрын
shawng7902 so basically the longer you leave the part in the dye the more it penetrates. I have some pretty deep scratches in the bottom of the chassis and so far the grey has not shown through. I let the chassis sit in the dye at a low boil for a few hours and then kept it in the dye overnight while it cooled down
@shawng79024 жыл бұрын
Awesome. Thanks for the reply man. I wondered about it. I'm glad the dye sinks in like that. I may have to do mine. Your build is about like mine. Brought home a new gen rustler vxl 4x4. Within 1st 2 weeks I doubled what I had in it. Axles are the next upgrade. Those parts laying around lol. I have a new rustler in a box damn near myself. @@shawng7902 make sure you get the synthetic dye when you're picking it up. The synthetic will get further into the polymer/plastics. I dyed a plastic chassis for my son's Charger 10/22 years ago. After getting bounced around in a backpack for the last 3 years it's starting to show some scuffs, but nothing very noticeable. I only boiled it for about 45 minutes. That there is a good looking Slash. I had thought of something as I was watching the ESC and receiver box issue. How come you didn't mount the receiver box on your aluminum plate and mount the ESC down low? You wouldn't be able to use that specific plate obviously as you had made it to mount in the position it is. I thing the receiver and receiver box might weigh less than the ESC. Not 100% sure though as I never even thought about it till now. Either way, as long as it works, then it's good to go. BTW. Aside from the screws and a few other small bits, I think you just built a second Slash rather than using the original. Lol. That Tekin setup in the old chassis is a sweet deal. I've heard Tekin is a reliable ESC. I've got the same Castle system you have and have not even used it yet. I originally bought it for the Summit, but as time went on I thought about putting it in other RCs. It eventually got back around and the Summit is definitely going to get that system. I originally bought it because I thought it was a sensored system, which it is not. At the time my Summit was my only "crawler" hense why I wanted a sensored brushless system. A couple years later I picked up the TRX Bronco and now that is my dedicated crawler, so I can convert my Summit into an E-REVO with selectable lockers. Lol.
@clodbusted17765 жыл бұрын
Lane Waite I thought about that too but it would be hard to route the motor wires around the receiver and the esc would be very close to the servo but I think it would definitely better for weight distribution. You’re right about the tekin electronics they’re very good and reliable I’ll end up using them in another truck at some point
