Traxxas Slash 4x4 Ultimate 2021 Unboxing (The Donor truck)

Checking out my new Slash 4x4 Ultimate. The truck is going to be used as a donor truck for my Hoss build.

i dyed my 2wd slash LCG chassis black and it worked really well. the one i used was the blue one you get from traxxas. i used black RIT fabric dye and just left it in the boiling water till it turned. go for it.

That funky blue is due to the original plastic not being completely white. It already has a off-white grey tint to it so it'll be a little off

That's awesome Jason FR!! You must feel pretty strongly about this truck to have two $500 brand new part trucks into it. Im sure it will be awesome you have great taste. And your trucks look like you run them in snow all year long they are so clean!!. Can't wait to see this build. Should do it live maybe naaa..🤟🤟🧨👊👍💪💪

I have a 3 year old Slash 4x4 vxl brushless with tsm and oba (which sounds awesome!) that came with the plastic axels. The axels lasted a week on 3s. I bought the Traxxas steel axels and they broke as well🤣. The mip axels have held up, but the grub screws at the output drives come loose too often. I picked up some long grub screws that reach all the way through the mip hub and filed off the threads to make a pin small enough to go through the output drive shafts holes, leaving some threads on the Allen key end to screw in. That worked great and has never failed

New subscriber here. I'm new to this hobby and just received my Slash 4x4 Unlimited today (it's still in the box, LOL). The Slash 4x4 Ultimate is an awesome looking truck and I went with it because I felt like you get a lot of bang for your buck compared to the non-ultimate Slash. Enjoyed your video and the tour of the Slash. Looking forward to see what you do with it going forward.

Merry Christmas Jason Perrin, I bought one of these Slash 4x4 Ultimate's as a roller\slider off eBay and you were right most of them don't come with the shocks i bought a set from the same seller i got the truck from Cash4RC i bought an XO-1 V1 slider as well from them. I have a bigfoot body like yours except mine has a different livery i don't know if i'll use it on my Hoss Ultimate i built up similar to your old one.

That's cool, I'm thinking about getting a Slash 4x4 Ultimate myself there's currently a sale where it's 10% Off on Amain and Traxxas. I already have a slash 4x4 platinum but i can't get over that black chassis, the blue shocks, the body and the black chrome wheels with S1 tires. And i was thinking about getting the new truck so i can let my dad drive my old one.

I have the green one. I love it . I have not broken a plastic axle with the stock vxl on 3s . I did have to put the Traxxas cvd’s in my 6s castle creations mamba monster x 1515-2200kv and the mip’s xduty in the castle creations mamba monster 2 1515-2200 kv non sensored.

Great to here. I am going to run these axles until I break them. But even then I’ll only replace them with metal ones if I feel the plastic ones broke to easy.

@@JasonPerrinRCVlogs they actually have a heavy duty plastic axle installed on them . Crashes might break one. But not from the power.

@@chriswade3986 yes they have the HD ones in the Hoss, rustler 4x4 and the slash. I am hoping they hold up better then the other plastic ones.

****Use MORE dye... Traxxas parts take dye very well. Same with other colors, if you use a lot of dye, they turn out very dark., the less you use the lighter the color will be. Trust me., I have been using rit dye for dacades. 😁😁

I'm on the fence about getting the Slash 4x4 Ultimate myself, thing looks awesome. When you put the Hoss wheels on there that looked badass! Curious though, with bigger tires on it, did you have issues to the transmission/drivetrain?? Or did you upgrade/modify anything to compensate the addition of bigger tires? Nice video!!

Boil pot until water is boiling then trow dye in and mix it the whole bottle, then lower heat to lowest and trow chassis in leave it 15 minutes then flip chassis and repeat 3 times it will be perfect

You can buy black chassis plate from ebay. I think I gave like $12 or so for one. Well... for 2wd slash anyways. Think the raptor edition came in black

Regards, as soon as the video starts there is a nice display of Rc models. So I asked myself, how and where do you store all Lipo batteries? Obviously always stored after the storage function of the charger. Advice or other is well accepted. Thank you. p.s. (I keep them in metal cans, in the corridor away from everything)

Did they do a 2021 revision on the ultimate? Traxxas always secretly updates their cars... I remember watching e revo 2.0 videos about the TERRIBLE rod ends then traxxas fixed them and put better ones on new e revo 2.0s and almost nobody realized it for MONTHS 🤣

I don't think they have since 2018. That's around when they switched shocks. The was the biggest thing. They've done the extreme HD drives and a few minor things in the last couple of years.

compared to a base slash 4x4, how much do you think in aluminum parts and upgrades is in the ultimate ?

If you’re asking does the truck absolutely needed them I would say no. But the shock are a very nice upgrade.
