This video should be captioned, stock TRX tires vs PL Hyrax, that is the real difference IMO. I own both the TRX Bronco and Tactical as well as the SCX2 and Wraith. Love them all, and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed with either...great quality and capabilities built into all of them. Love the competition though, it keeps the manufacturers on their toes to create even more exciting trucks going forward.

Nice comparison, expecially the one with equal tires. I have the feeling, judging by how they bounced, that the Scx 10 II had a much lighter weight as tested, and that made it bounce a lot but also climb little easier. Trx4, in my opinion, needs to be tested with a lighter (and less top heavy) body to show all its potential. Just like 1:1 rigs, the portal axles have pros and cons. They are great for the ground clearance, but the trade back is a higher Cog and that may not make them the best at climbing very steep rocks. But so many other variables of rig setup are involved that only time will tell which is best.

It looks like I need to finishing putting together my SCX10 II kit. I have watched every KZbin video to present. The TRX4 is a very good trailing truck. It will be a capable rock crawler with a lighter and less top heavy body. I like the equal tire, wheel and wheel weighted comparison. Great video, Sincerely Thanks. PS. My SCX10 II has a two speed transmission, I have ran in the in woods ,without a body, and love the two speed option.

Leory Brown (Oldest RC Kid in Town) - First.... *I may* be the oldest kid in RC Town (55 yo)! 😃😆😜 Finish your SCX10 II. Traxxas may have done their homework - but the Axial is a FAR BETTER value for money!! There's nearly limitless options for it, and they're MUCH easier to service in the field. The TRX-4 may have innovative features.... but when are we the consumer, going to ask "how much is TOO MUCH?" Traxxas drives up the cost of the Hobby! They have since the T-MAXX jacked up the prices of Monster Trucks. Then again when the Slash jacked up the prices of Stadium Trucks!! (Although in Traxxas's favor, they DID offer a stripped out version, for us poor folks to fix up at our budget's pace) The TRX-4 is going to remain at the $440-480.00 price point, as long as thousands of bratty kids can talk their Dads into buying them..... and the successful middle-aged modelers see this as "a good value"! 😮😕 *Meanwhile,* the rest of the Market is going to see how well the TRX-4 is selling for at that price - and then THEY will start raising their prices, like they've done before! 😧 I hate sounding like "that guy", but I've been in this Hobby, since 1984..... I've watched all this happen.

Thanks for your vote for the SCX10 II. The TRX-4 will have good factory parts support and probably will need it, they are having servo problems already. Only time will tell which is best but, for now I have many axial parts if needed, so far I haven't needed the parts for my 7 axial brand trucks. My wife calls it the "Big Boys Toys" syndrome. As for the oldest RC Kid in town. I am 67 years old and plan to beat guys half my age at dirt oval racing tonight. Retirement is blessed!!! Work hard, play harder and give God the credit for all the good things in your life. Sincerely thanks for your kind advice.

Well..... I reckon you've got a couple of years on me!! 😜 I'm hoping that you're showing those kids how it's done, out on the track! You're right..... Retirement is Blessed. Mine lasted two months, before I started driving an OTR Truck! 😲😲 My wife was not amused. It turns out, God had a plan for me to be working. My best friend had a series of unimaginable tragedies, back to back to back! 😯😕 He lost his daughter, in a horrible car accident. Then their very limited budget was strained beyond the breaking point. He's Disabled. An incident during Desert Storm.... He can't work. Lately, they have been barely hanging on, food is very scarce, and they have been on the verge of Eviction every month for 3 months. So, I did what I thought was right - I'm helping them. The extra income from driving has allowed me to barely take up the slack..... To get back on their feet again, they need more than I alone can give. I asked his friends and family. They weren't interested in helping (they HAVE plenty). Of course, I can't force anybody. I then set up a PayPal donation account for them. I've spread it around to his online friends.... They received $119.00 in 2 1/2 months from them. They felt Blessed and humbled to get that, but it's not near enough. So now, I've been spreading around to everyone he knows here on KZbin. Nothing so far, but it takes a lot more than that to break me! God willing, I WILL find people to help them!

Surprisingly Axial sailing through much more easily, in spite of TRX4 with more bells and whistles out of the box. Impressive vdo 👍👍

There is many variables to a comparison video, lighter weight means it's easier to move, or get into motion, but lighter weight also means there isn't enough weight to make a tire conform to a surface. Heavy weight rigs will need more power to climb hills and will sink in mud. Sometimes these can also be helpful. Center of gravity has a major factor in how a vehicle performs. Scale components, while they look nice, will add weight, BUT in a scale competition can score you some very high points. For a true comparison, both vehicles should have the same weight body and the same tires. Not to mention the same driver will make a comparison more equal. Both of these RCs are leading in crawling. Traxxas though doesn't have the time in this field that Axial does, but still brought their A game to the show. Axial has made very very few changes because they didn't have any competition. Now they have some very big ones, and will have to step up their game if they want to stay on the podium.

This two are not even comparable. TRX-4 have very strong features and good performance even box stock. It is also way more versatile having 2-speed transmission and lockable diff box stock. This thing is not stuck to be a trail or crawl rig but can be a good basher as well.

I personally have the original scx10 and it has been far superior in almost every aspect to everything I have put it up against. Factory powertrain and running gear. The only upgrades have been true beadlocks, scale M/Ts, and weighted wheels. 1.5 oz on each wheel

Trx-4 is great! Top features and alot of great things under the body. Problem is, if something brakes while trailing, theres a lot of things to put your hands on alot of times you'll miss the fun thats the reason why theres only rtr's on the market. compared to the axial, its more likely simpler to fix. more fun to have. Both are very great rigs. slight plus to the Trx-4 because of its newer features. thumbs up for both!

I was just checking out a new trx4 yesterday at the hobby shop. Very cool truck for sure but I see some potential problems with it. First, I just don't think the portal axles will hold up as good under stress, I think they'll break easier than the others. Another thing, the tiny little cables for the diff locks. They are so thin it just seems they would snap easy. With that, I could see them seizing up due to water and dirt getting into the housings. Lastly, the truck just resembles an Axial scx10 2 way too much. They definitely stole the platform layout from Axial.

Peter Griffin I really doubt the cables will snap. they barely pull anything. look at a bike brake or shift cable. under 2 millimeters in diameter. shifter is nearly 1mm. you will snap a brake lever before the cable.

I have the trx4 and have put it under a lot of stress. Trailed it for a whole summer and never had to work on it yet. Has 2.2 mudslingers and boomracing rims

@@1peanut Tighter turns and can actually save axles if you run down roads or concrete to get to any trails. There is many other things that are good for unlocked diffs. Sidehilling is good with unlocked diffs cause as soon as one side starts to spin, means you are close to toppling over. Unlocked diffs are also good in sand. Good in the snow to keep a vehicle going in a straight line.

Yeah, who knows what electronics where in them. The SCX10 ii could have a puller pro and a HW1080 and we would never know because they didn’t show. To me, it looks like this video was made to be bias towards the SCX10 ii.

great video but I have to say I'm sicking with axial. Sure the TRX-4 is cool and all but the SCX10 is a whole lot easier to work on and u can do a lot things with a SCX10. I do like Traxxas and all but they are getting too high on there RC's the only Traxxas stuff I buy is there Electronics. The SCX10 did everything the TRX-4 did with out locking the diff. The only thing I have done to my SCX10 is a Traxxas 12T motor with super swamper tsl and is crawls like very good

SCX10 II RTR vs TRX4 RTR both running bone stock, same lines with two drivers playing follow the leader. After you reach the hilt swap rigs and do it again. Then if you are going to hop them up, be equally fair about bolting on the same exact wheels, tires, weight. Along with running the same batteries in each rig. I love both rigs an am aware of the capabilities of each running stock and modified. If you want a Scale Trail rig for Rock Crawling duties. Then think about this... Heavy rig. Vs Light rig. "Try pushing an 80 ton Army Tank up a 70° incline, Now try pushing a Feather up that same 70° incline. Now add a Hemi to the Feather!!! 😈

I have an ascender c10, kit scx10.2 and my traxxas should be here this week. to those saying the scx is better value for $... I just don't see it. rtr the traxxas is 40 bucks more but you couldn't add the scale parts, inner fenders, 2 speed, 4 channel radio, remote locking diffs, or portals for anywhere near 40 bucks. my ascender on the other hand gives it a run for value. 365 bucks after coupon. They all have their strong points. but valuewise this traxxas ticked all the right boxes. I'll be interested to see how it holds up.

Ryan Dunbar So true. I've spent hundreds of dollars and many hours on my scx10 jeep for inner fenders, lights, metal parts upgrades, relocate the battery to the front, new receiver to use my 4 channel Futaba radio, and more. I consider $450 that's what I paid for mine a fair price for the features in this RTR. I just changed the steering servo for a more powerful one, new weighted wheels and tires, and LED lights for now. I just want to see how reliable the stock drive train and electronics are.

i see the TRX4 to be more of a trail and mud truck than a extreme terrain truck i will use my TRX4 for trailing while i will use my custom build for extreme terrain

Gotta say the scx10 2 is proven but the trx4 with a few mods is right there with it. add a better servo, some weights and a good sensored brushless setup and is bet it would keep up. so far from all the Facebook posts the trx4 is underpowered, tires suck, and the servo is dying. sound about right. I'll be waiting for a roller or see if I can buy one that I can pull the electronics and add my own or a kit version would be best. axial is gonna have to come with some portal axles. that extra clearance can't be beat.

Trx4. Great rig hampered by stupid body. Top heavy, rear heavy, bumpers stick out to far. Changed bumpers, took off spare tire, that alone made it unstoppable. A whole new body probably makes it unfair to the competition.

I agree the body looks cool but definitely top heavy and bumpers don’t help at all! The TRX4 is my first rock crawler and have that body I hate it hopefully soon it will be something lighter and simple it’s for sale and almost perfect only a few scratches I will sell it dirt cheep

SCX10 2 i well over traxxas.As suspected,traxxas is an overated car,wich probably for a start platform for a factory is good,but it needs time to improve an perform well,and have more atention in other setups,then remoted diff locks,wich for me is useless

I believe there different drivers but the trx4 struggles because of its heavy body the body is probably twice the weight as the scx10

ATEC Atec what drugs are you smoking? Here we go with the "if it had" crap. Lol. Traxxas will never compete with axial. The trx-4 is garbage. Steering servo failures, shifting servo failures, portal axle failures, top heavy queer body. For a truck that traxxas claims is the king of crawlers they sure do have quite a few problems already. That diff lock crap is a joke. Traxxas is a basher company. Never once have i been crawling and thought "let me unlock my diff and lose traction" lol.

Remember, traxxas has sued HPI and axial on "trademark" infringement! They said the monster truck savage copied the TMaxx! Haha, I owned 2 savages and 2 TMaxx. Couldn't be farther from the truth. 2 different platforms and The savage was a 100% better product hands down. Point is, traxxas has been around forever and maybe cornered the market for new enthusiasts. Then better products came along. Traxxas didn't like that so started playing sue game. Anybody who's been in the hobby long enough knows not to buy traxxas. Not because the newer products aren't descent, it's because traxxas buyers are new to the hobby ( I was there too). There's many better products, companies out there.

Funny they cut the axial turning....lol, all locked up its really bad... Backing up all day so much to turn... lol I own them all...lol. Don't hate.... to be fair Axial was kjnda good for a while. Traxxas with the Locking/ unlocking diffs just destroyed the competition!!!! Makes all my Axial stuff archaic. Turning radius is that of pro crawler with front and rear diff motor control 4 wheel steering etc... portal axels... already seeing prototypes under other brands...lol... Seems everyone else got a bit lazed the R&D dept. Good job in bringing new to the game TRAXXAS !!!!! Can't wait to see the response from the others!!!!

You'll spend more money on SCX10 getting it to Trx-4 level. I'd buy Trx-4 over the cherokee.

Upgrade a trx4 with a better, lighter body. Tires and weight distribution make the rig.... portal axles all the way.

The TRX-4 *may* be impressive, and has innovative features, but HOLY CRAP! The price! Traxxas may have done their homework - but the Axial is a FAR BETTER value for money!! There's nearly limitless options for it, and they're MUCH easier to service in the field. Although, I would buy a SCX10 or Vaterra Ascender - with those Portal Axles - in a heartbeat!! An unlockable front diff would also be awesome - for those of us who like Rock Climbing - but still like the ability to STEER on flat land! 😲👍 The fact that now most people have heard that locking your diffs is the FIRST go-to, only option, has been mislead for quite a few years..... wait What? it's 100 bucks more than an scx10.ii kit that will require more than 100 bucks worth of parts to get up and running. so you end up in it less than the axial but you have a 2 speed, remote locking diffs, and a 4 channel radio... I'm failing to see how that's overpriced

also the rtr scx is still 410. 40 less than the traxxas but with less features. you can't add a 2 speed. locking diffs. inner fenders and scale accessories for 40 bucks.

I agree. I've got a SCX10 Jeep and it was $410. I've put probably put at least $300+ to get it the way i want including 35 turn motor, fender wells, lights, metal gears all around, front mounted battery and other misc things along the way. As you said no 2 speed tranny, locking diffs or portal axles on the SCX10.

trx-4 is an all around better rig, AXIAL has to be upgraded right out of the box to be any good, too many cheap plastic parts.

Dwayne Baker It does but.... All it needs is a good set of shocks "G Made" and a true waterproof esc and I have no problem hanging with the best crawlers out there.

but you can buy an scx10 and buy parts to make it crawl better than the trx4 for way cheaper overall

Trx4 is a waste I was disappointed when that is what they came out with portal axles to raise the cg for what everyone thinking portals are so good but how many comp builds have you seen with portals very very few portals
