I know this is an old post, but I did the same with my DX5R Pro. Only question is, when the body is on, how do you tell which diff is locked and unlocked without touching the truck? Sometimes we do "no touch" crawls. Thanks and great video.

Have you figured out how to hook up the traxxas light kit to the spectrum control so u can turn on and off the lights on the controller

I have tried everything I can think of it will not let me I have eaven tried to bypass all the traxxas stuff and hook the lights right to the receiver and still will not work

Nice install I have the DX5C I might install on my tactical unit - only thing my radio does have a light on the screen for night driving

very nice radio...obviously it's functions apply to those who race...hmm..guys who are Bashers don't need too many precise control adjustments..Throttle -Brake & Reverse / + EPA/trims on steering are basic to make RC run around/jump and crash ! NICE tutorial -review..

Ahhh can not get my rugged to work. I can get lockers. But shifts and does throttle same time. If not then i have no throttle. Can not figure it out. Any ideas?

So when you go into low gear it automatically goes into crawler mode? And high it's not?

michael pratt - yes, low gear will activate the crawl mode. High gear it rolls freely

TMAN DMAN - for the “fin” on the plug, you have to cut it off. Xacto knife or hobby scissors works. Keep shaving down until it fits

Thanks for the info I'm doing the exact same setup but with a DX5C rugged right now. What did you connect the 2 wire JST lead on the light power module to?

I used a Traxxas Mini-Revo power module for the lights. That plugged directly into the esc. You can solder an JST connection from the ESCs +/- wires as well for the stock module

Thank you for the reply. I'll have to add a JST to the Mamba x battery wires. I thought the stock esc might have stepped down the voltage but looks the lighting module takes 3s. Thanks again.

You def made it look easy!!! Lol out of curiosity cause I’m about to setup my trx-4 chassis kit to a dx5 rugged, did you need to set end points fit the shift and lock servos?

What exactly is the Crawler mode activated by? You mention it when you switch to low gear. Is that a setting on the ESC or Radio?

Pete RW - I have mine set to the H button. H will toggle between normal mode and crawler mode. It is a setting on the Radio

Pete RW - it puts the drag brake up to 100%. It is available with the mamba x, not the XL5

@@peterw8911 The XL5 does indeed have crawl mode. Battery hooked up but not powered on, hold the power button, will go green then red, then it will go through a series of blinks. 1-5. Release after it does the 5 blinks(crawl mode). Now you have 100% brake at release of throttle and instant reverse. GL

I have the 5xc. After you installed, was your punch faster in reverse than your forward?

Mike Schultz - no but I had to make sure the esc was set to reverse, not just the radio.

Mike Schultz - no, I had the mamba x in before i got the spektrum. You can always reverse the motor wires and see if that fixes the punch problem?

dee Nice53 - tough to say what’s going on without seeing it. Bind plug in the receiver? Could be a ton of different things?

Well I mean I’m trying to put my plugs inside the receiver I shave off a little bit still not fitting in the receiver

dee Nice53 - it’s a tight fit. You have to use an Xacto knife and keep shaving down until the plug fits. Not the easiest but eventually the plug will fit
