Holly cow 600 dollars for a traxxas.not worth it compared to the Fms....fms has nailed it for your buck.the fms can be heavier with very little upgrades.traxxas has been out a long time. but it had takin them a long time to get what we want for to much money.i want more for my buck and I want to spend less.2 weeks of a saved pay check is not worth it.i could buy 3 tamiya's for price of 1 traxxas.they need to step it up and not brake the bank, fms has not been out all that long.and traxxas is gonna have a had time with that...just saying good buddy..awesome comparesin and great video looking forward to seeing more of your SCX24 builds, very inspiring 😊😊😊

They’re all $600 except for the cheap FMS and Redcat, which are now making it possible for more people to enter the hobby with all the hype and advertising. Newer tech and prices from china make it more appealing than the other brands with the upgraded parts. Does it make it better for me? Idk?.. since they’re already made the best out of the box, it leaves me with nothing to upgrade so the price out the door is what it is. The other trucks that you spend money and time on, tuning upgrading, seems more satisfying in the end. Just my opinion.

I love the look of the chocolate colored High Trail. Feature wise, FMS is far and away the better choice. The esc in the FMS is waaay better, the Traxxas is the same POS they've been selling for 10 years. Traxxas servos are also trash. Traxxas remotes are trash while the FMS is better than any RTR and 90% of the stand-alone remotes. As with all modern FMS vehicles, you get a complete truck while the Traxxas is just a body and the fact that the standard trx4 is an awesome crawler.

I’ve used axial scx10ii’s for years but the diff gears seem to wear or break teeth off if you give them too many beans for too long a time .but now I use trx 4 sort axles along with the axial two speed gearbox and not broke a diff gear or portal gear in 2 years they seem a lot stronger than axial’s diff gears and SSD’s hardened diff gears also ..

Yeah, that’s what I love about the Ford the chrome molding down the side where my Chevy is just a sticker, but I’m really digging on my FMS Chevy i’ve got the 79 Ford bronco TRX4 my FMS is becoming my favorite though

cool video, just ordered the fms after watching a similiar video of the 2. The side by side method is cool. Also the $200 difference was a big part of the decision, I do plan to attempt to bind this to my radiomaster mt12, which will be interesting given the 11 channels in use.

Thank you for making this comparison video... been a 2FMRC fan for a minute through the micro crawler content. If the FMS existed when I bought my Traxxas, I would've 100% gone that route. Luckily I've discovered that there are some cheap mods to increase the High Trails capability that don't require breaking the bank! Thanks Matt.

I've posted this to the FMS page. I've posted this in another YT video or two, and I'm gonna say it again here, lol!... I just gotta say... FMS just slaughtered the competition's existence, in my experienced opinion... Independently locking diffs, fully four-linked front and rear with SOA, 2spd transmission with FWD only, 4WD, and DIG with dig having the option to be converted to RWD only, counter-rotating driveshafts eliminating torque twist, longer and smoother shocks at 100mm (literally the best rtr shocks I've felt), higher clearance on the portals than the competition with a considerable amount of more steering angle, a better, more sturdy clipless body mounting system, absolutely solid with no body rattle, factory-installed lighting system, beautiful FlySky transmitter with 11 channels, a drag brake knob for adjusting on the fly, and the electronics are the only ever in any rtr of MANY that I'm not even considering changing out. This brushed rig runs nearly like a Fusion, esp for being a stock brushed system. It has amazing low-speed control and absolutely flies in high gear. Only thing to do is wheels and a steering servo when the original goes, as they all do. All for $100-$200 cheaper than the competition. Quality/durability is not even a question, I have more than one video evidence of that. I have two TRX4's and a TRX6, and I love them at at least $1k later, each! Out of the box, the TRX's are inferior, not even worth comparing. I'll never buy another now. The TRX's are being LEFT IN DUST by the by the FCX10. Most of the competition doesn't even care about their consumers or their feedback. They don't even care to pay attention to the scene or their consumers. They put out what they want, not what is suggested in the hobby. Even the FCX18's are slaughtering the competition in the mini scene. FMS pays attention and listens to the consumer. I can mention one other brand that has been doing the same for a bit now, but that's another subject for another page. (Redcat) Kudos to the underdogs for taking over the game with way better rigs at way better prices. RESPECT‼️👊💪🤘

Love the split screen! It’s way more interesting. The FMS is amazing. I’d pay $200 for the Traxxas… love the look of the Traxxas the best. But definitely getting the FMS in orange. Ultra retro is okay, but rare so I’ll be happy with it. Servo issues mean nothing. I’ve had just as many Traxxas servos die day 1 as any other. Traxxas parts are cheap but servos aren’t. The radio is the seller! So cheap for 11 channels! Upgrading will be expensive, but starting out like this pretty awesome!

...I have the trx4 ford bronco 1979 since two years without any bigger issue. It's only fun to drive it. I think the fms is as good as the trx4 but I think the fms is only another trx4, while the fj40 or the machigan are completely different and also fantastic cars. I think if someone has a trx4 does not neet the fms fcx10.

I wish manufactures would offer more rollers instead of RTR …..many of these RTR brushed systems in general aren’t that great …sure they work but the brushless system are by far better! A HW Fusion SE systems are my go to for 1/10 crawler stuff…for $70-$80 ya can’t got wrong.

If I was looking to get my first 10th scale trail truck, the Fms is a great value. I have a bunch of crawlers, so I'm not going to get a Fcx10 for myself. Hopefully, the fcx transmitter will get a receiver, and then I will probably be getting 1 of those. Good review Matt

I have the Chevy High trail & the FMS I had the TRX Bronco out with the FMS to compare bottom line they are both very good trail trucks. The high trail is tippy & tends to rollover easy but it does go straight over almost anything so each one has its good & bad things.

Very good and balanced comparison🤙 Have 2 TRX-4 and a TRX-6. A good few FMS small scale and the new FJ 40 I’ll probably buy a FCX 10? - But not until preferably a Toyota body arrives. Radio and ESC from Traxxas is showing its age these days.. Have changed the radio on the 4’s but my TRX-6 has the full Traxxas light treatment - and I’m locked to the poor radio and light control via the Traxxas app. Traxxas needs to step up with radio/esc gear and a revised TRX4/6 soon. I do really like my TRX’s and equally the not so known RGT Rescuer EX86190 - wich is similar to the TRX-4 and FMS FCX10. With a Landcruiser body and excellent chassis/damper/spring setup, my RGT rates in some departments higher than the TRX-4..

I get that the FMS is loaded with features but I do not like DIG. I also don't get the FWD feature on the FMS. I have a Vanquish VS4-10 and I disabled the DIG feature. I also have a Trx4 Sport kit and love the simplicity of it without the fancy features I will never need. I added the 79 Bronco body and inner fenders, overdrive fronts, Fusion Pro, and Flysky GT5. The thing is a beast and is quite the looker. Non of my crawlers are stock so aftermarket support is a big deal for me.

Yeah the dig function is definitely not something I have to have on a more scale type trail truck. I do love it on my comp style builds but it’s more than is really needed on a truck like this.

If you add the Hobbywing 2300kv Fusion pro to the TRX-4, then gear it 22-39 add your favorite 3S 5'000MAH 50C LiPo. 1st gear will run 13mph, and 2nd gear runs 30mph! This is running the 1.9" canyon trail a.t. tires.

Yeah no, so on top of the $549 price tag You're going to add $150 or more to just match or outdo the speed of the FMS a little bit. I'll pass there's more value on the FMS. With the savings I get from buying an FMS It gives me more dollars for upgrades. And I love the competition It helps with the prices of these RCs.

Some valid points all around, can't speak for the fms,not owned a 10 scale,I have the sunset bronco from traxxas and and this btc I finished my steering servo, that's using 1.9 and 2.2 tires, I've not replaced a single electronic and it's seen it's share of use in the 5 years I have owned it!!

Hey great video split and choice of rigs. Personally if that matters I’d go with the FMS I’d add thicker shock fluid and electronics yeah there what ever. For me I’d just run the 2 in 1 IDC I’d put a good 35t 45t injora 550 5slot or a Holmes. And just run it I prefer slow and with its 2 speed it scoots. I appreciate the dig functions front to rear and the servo on axle is going to feel stronger since it’s not battling through link geometry change. Amazon 40kg reds are nice I also like how each servo can be selected on or off at will. Be fun to set in with the one tire fire mode. Also the FMS body just needs to be BLACKED on the inside to rid the light shown through I would also run the camper IMO to get rid of the proline looking mold arch. Hats off to traxxas tho they know math and my trx4 defender from 2017 first OG there is no bump steer just typical axle swing. I love this blue and the flat mag wheels are beautiful along with the mold trim. I’m contemplating this FMS but I also really enjoy that Cross Rc TOW TRUCK. 🤦‍♂️ so many options what a great life we have, piece and blessings my friend.

I understand people love Traxxas, I have some myself. Since I modify all of my rc, base price is more of a concern for me than performance. Sometimes I just build from aftermarket parts alone. They’re just better.

My issue with fms is there warranty and support. Until they have us based support I'll never buy another one. When you can only contact them is in the middle of the night and they make warranty next to impossible

Both servos are bad the FMS servo seemed ok just trailing around but as soon as I got it wedged a we time it stopped moving I thought it went out but it after sitting for a few seconds it started moving again.

You must live in Ca. I have areas that would be awesome to take my crawlers but due to the areas having a lot of homeless & bad conditions it’s not something I want to deal with takin my RC’s out is my get away to relax so I can’t have any piece of mind.

@@2fmrc Ya I live in Ventura county right next to Santa Barbara it’s still a beautiful area but I grew up here enjoying the outdoors fishing camping just exploring & now it’s not even the same place it has changed so much we have addicts & alot of homeless that live in the river bottoms & under overpass bridges & I’m sure not all are addicts or criminals but alot are unfortunately they steal bikes from in town & take them to what is essential a bike chop shop in the river bottom. Right now we have had alot more rain then normal & it just drives them out & you see them at any nearby area or store trying to get out of the rain. It’s a sad lifestyle. Places I would go as a kid I would never go now & I don’t have to tell you how it is here in California but it’s alot harder to have a weapon you could literally shoot someone attacking you & you would go to jail or be sued it’s just ridiculous here. And I definitely don’t trust anyone when I’m out with my RC’s for sure & you hate to be like that but people nowadays have lost their minds.

the 1/18 scale the traxxas has flaws even it is a high trail the drive shafts and other stuff is just to low it gets hung up on the rocks .but this bigger scale traxxas seems to have good clearance unlike the 1/18 scale.thanks

This is such a skewed review. A trx4 can be as lows as $499. Its better built has better customer support and aftermarket support. Ive had both, my FMS didnt last 3 hours before the servo and esc both died. Dealing with their customer service department was a nightmare. Drove my trx4 everyday for a month before either began to fail and when they did i had replacments within a week. The extra $100 is absolutely worth it. Plus i never like supporting the folks that are ripping off the competition as FMS tried to do here.

The Traxxas looks 1000x better but at 2x the price you are paying for a name. The servos in the trx4 high trails are absolute garbage. Break all the time so there's another $100.
