Just saw one of these for the first time at my local hobby shop and i was very impressed. I couldnt get over the size of these things. They're HUGE for an 1/8 scale. Almost the same size as a lot of 1/5 scales. Cant wait to buy one!

Even the somewhat more affordable purpose-built electric 1/5th scales are still in the upper range on pricing for RTRs. People are just going to gravitate to what's cheaper, and the existing large-scale scene is going to prefer their higher-end gas-powered vehicles and electric conversions of said vehicles. HPI had a lower-cost 1/5th scale electric short course truck, but that didn't last.

It all depends on how hard you drive it really. I bash my slash 2wd with a castle sidewinder 3 motor/each combo like medium-hard, had it for two years and have only broken three actual plastic pieces but did completely destroy my differential twice, but that was just because I didn't know what I was doing at first. But then again one of my friends had a traxxas 1/16 scale and his electronics just started smoking and died about 1 and 1/4 years after he got it. It just depends.

I want to run my slash in dirt and mud but don't want to because I wouldn't know what to clean or how to do it. +Cesar Perez hey man, the more you disassemble the car and put it back together the faster you will feel comfortable doing it. its really easy to clean a car. air compressors are great, way easier to get large debris off. but basically wipe it down with a rag or the best way is to take apart the car piece by piece and clean everything.

I believe it is the same motor/speed control combo as the XO-1 which is made by Castle. 35+ MPH is probably where this had to be geared to move 20+ lbs on 6s.

To answer your first question, Traxxas may of wanted a fully original truck by them. and for you second question, this is 1. A monster truck made for off road you don't need or want that high of speeds off road, and 2. it weighs 20 pounds, to move 20 pounds to 60+mph, you would a ridiculously big motor and esc combo if you didn't want to burn shit out... and let's not forget the gearing you would need too
