As a xmaxx owner I can say that a 20t techno pinion and 50t hot racing spur gear, along with captured gpm hing pins and drywall tape and shoo goo for the body, it’s a blast, I’ve never had so much fun bashing, especially with my new mega ramp😎

@@BrooksLMM1 I ordered GPM mod 1.5 gears for it. Still need to put them in. It's one of the funnest trucks I own when I'm not eating the gears up. I will check out the techno gears if these gpm gears don't last. Thanks for watching!

I'm a fixed wing & quadcopter rc'r and this is my first ground vehicle in ages. I actually got it with my 5 yr old grandson in mind, thinking if he was into it I'd get another & build a track at home. But then I drove it and realized how foolish a notion that was, even in training mode. I havnt began to learn the many reasons to hate the traxxas vehicles yet, but the hobby shop seems to have every replacement part for them in stock and little to none for other available rtr brands. Also, I'm amazed that so many folks seem to want to go faster than the blistering speed I'm seeing bone stock lol. I have 2 acres of yard at home to run on and about maybe 800' of slightly curved (visible from 1 spot) street that sees no traffic to run on and still the thing is out of sight or gets too close to obstructions to hold the max speed for more than a couple seconds. So, I went back Sunday and bought another truck more suited, hopefully for the grandson. It's a trx-4 with switchable 4wd & 2 spd transmission and is at the other end of the speed spectrum for sure. These electrics have come a long way since I last ran wheeled rc. I only ever ran nitro trucks 15-20 yrs ago. I do hate the traxxas proprietary battery situation and will absolutely be changing the leads to run standard 6s single packs. Cheers
@HumlsHobbies8 ай бұрын
Yeah, for the size of this truck, once it gets up to speed, it can be kinda scary, lol. I've been hit by rc cars before, but I'm honestly nervous about getting hit with this one! The trx4 will be an awesome truck for your grandson! It's got the best of both worlds. You can crawl or bash. I ran nitro 20 years ago as well. It was crazy fun, but keeping them running in the climate I'm in was sometimes a pain. With lipo batteries, they made electric just as fun and a lot easier! Thanks for watching!

I will say outside of soldering connectors the traxxas cars I have are great to drive. Even my super cheap 2wd slash has been steady for years now. Terrible crashes with almost no breaks even on 4s brushless…. No xmaxx yet but I can’t wait to get one soon

I almost bought an Xmaxx last year, used for 600 bucks at my local hobby shop, kinda wish I had, but at the time I had a good amount of money to actually spend on something I wanted, rather then always the bear minimum necessities. Since having money like that wasn't going to be long term i decided to get the BL-2S Slash 4X4 instead, figured maintenance and repairs are probably less expensive, and the Slash seems to be one very tough truck. Did a monster Slash conversion with 2.8 Proline Trenchers, upgraded all electronics, better shocks, Radiomaster MT12 transmitter, and running 2S and 3S both, it's a beast for sure. Love these Lipo batteries too, so much better then what i remember from the 90's. Always been a big time gear head, and used to go out off road in one truck or another over the years. But, I've had to make changes in both work and recreation due to severe back problems and other injuries, so when I had the money, I at first thought about getting another Jeep Cherokee or something similar, but because of the problems I have, I instead got back into the RC world after 30 or so years. Being an ex mechanic, plus with how much things have improved, I can get my gear head fix 😆 and not wreck my body. It's incredible how these RC's are built now, almost like real trucks, close enough anyway. It's been a blast doing all the work upgrading and even the repairs too 😆. Even came up with my own body lift for the clippless body, and a few other mods like a skid plate to keep debris from getting in the hole for the center driveshaft. The stock one got ground down and cut in half by rocks 🤣. Put the aluminum shaft in it and no more problems with anything getting in there anymore.

Yours has the self removing body feature like mine! In a crash it automatically seperates from the chassis to ensure the driver gets plenty of exercise chasing it around putting out back on. Every time i drive mine I'm reminded of how much i like Arrma and appreciate simple body clips that keep the body on.

The Xrt is amazing! It handles really well compared to the Xmaxx. It's definitely better as far as racing on a track. However if your looking for something to do jumps and hit ramps with the Xmaxx is the way to go.

Just curious, why not the XMaxx ULTIMATE? How’s it going thus far? Broken anything or burned up any electronics? Thanks for your time. Stay safe and enjoy! 😎👍🏼
@HumlsHobbies6 ай бұрын
Honestly with big heavy bashers like the Xmaxx I like to stick with plastic parts for the type of bashing I do. They flex and have give to them. Once the metal parts tend to warp more after heavy use. I haven't burned up any electronics yet. The only real headache I've had was I stripped 3 sets of gears. However I figured out that the pinion gear was coming loose. I used Red thread Locke on it and it's been good ever since! Thanks for watching!

I had a Maxx as well! The Maxx is more agile and in my opinion more durable. It also handles alot better. The Xmaxx is big and bulky.
