I couldn’t agree more that it was already a great song but that adding KC just took it up another level! She didn’t try to oversing or take over his song; she just complimented what he was already doing in a very tasteful and beautiful way! Kelly knows when to be a lead role and when to be a supporting role. She just wanted to sing with Teddy bc she’s a huge fan & we got a fantastic version of this song out of it ❤

The really amazing thing here is that this performance was not rehearsed! There is a video of them talking through the song just before they performed it as to who would sing what part at any given point of the song. Kellys' band and song director, Jessi Collins, (blond in the background with the band) was in on the discussion as well as Kellys' music director, Jason (bald guy at the keyboards). That means that Kelly literally made up her duet part on the fly, ad-lib! What an amazing woman! That is why they all look so happy when the song is over because they knew that they captured lightning in a bottle, so to speak.

Also her band is incredible Jason Halbert on the keys has been with her since she won idol Jessi Collins her bgv is insanely talented as well as the rest of her Band! Yeah, it was a “home run” for sure, band, singers, song. It all just came together. It could be done better, but this was just ad libbing on the spot -jam, and she just met him. Grand slam actually. It is a family show, so really it couldn’t have been taken up another notch. Very moving. Glad you guys covered it. They had to have felt it. I think right after the song he said “Hot damn”, I think. Well just a listener here (no musical training), and I loved it. ❤

I saw a segment of them talking on her show and also a portion of the video of them going over the song and I’m sure the day they sang this was the only practice they had, which is what she usually does. Also I saw her on social media saying how much she loved his singing and how talented he was and that she would loved to sing with him. He saw that and responded soon afterwards and said “let’s sing”. On some interview segment, you could see how he enjoyed being on the show and essentially praising her. They both seemed to be big fans of each other.
