Do you think better internal rotators or hybrid guys are more long stride guys compared to internal rotators who can get the back hip through with a shorter stride?

Hey, can you do a vid on long toss mechanics to mound mechanics. Curious on what the difference would be in loading the legs because of course long toss some just don’t think about it at all and on the mound it’s hard to feel strong on the mound and still get that momentum going and rotate properly.

Good idea, we'll go over some tips for transferring long toss mechanics to the mound! A big one for you to use right now is to long toss from your pitching motion rather than a crow-hop.

I avoided this video of a while because i knew it was something i didn’t do efficiently and i was scared of the truth, but after topping 92 a few weeks ago i just had a bullpen where i struggled to touch 89. My mechanics were almost the same, a few things went wrong and the major thing being my armslot went up quite a bit in that pen. It felt like i was using all arm “muscling up” to throw, vs when i hit 92 it felt like my arm was just along for the ride. I’ll be addressing the issues today, but the big thing that i need help on and can’t get a good feeling for is my back foot coming up early and way before ball release. Do you have any drills, tips, or ques for this? My dragline is non-existent. I think there is a chance that this video may help this issue. Thank you!

For reference I’m a low 3/4 slot, 6’ 215lbs, 22years old, and i have tons of video back and side if y’all are interested, I know y’all have email i may reach out that way if the youtube comments aren’t effective

one more thing, this youtube channel is the best there is and I would never have gotten anywhere close to 92 without it, thank you! It’s a rough road but the road to 100 is worth it! Keep up the good work!

Block-blocking? What does that mean
@FerminStlCardinals2 жыл бұрын
Gr8 topic. I have heard that someone's (effective)stride length is about 75% of its height in order to have a good hip rotation...or 5-6 steps of their own foot... What can you tell me about this?

could an excessively short or long stride lead to shoulder injuries? how?
@treadathletics17 күн бұрын
Potentially. Any sort of compensation, especially at end ranges (incredibly long stride) can lead to issues up the kinetic chain

See im kinda the opposite, when i stride too long my front knee bleeds forward. But when shorten my stride length, im able to block more effectively. But correct me if im wrong.

Over striding also kills efficiency as I mentioned in the video (especially if you're pushing off the back leg as this will cause everything to rotate together and the lead leg will soften). If you're under-striding OR over-striding it's a problem!

Did the research you cited at 6:50 measure velocity? There's an industry wide assumption that Long stride = more velo, but the study I link to below says not only does 10% Shorter stride length = More Velo, it also comes with less effort, and 10% longer stride = less velo. It was done with only 30 collegiate players, but if this is wrong, is there research? Meanwhile you did a Graterol breakdown. Short stride, yet 100+ MPH on a sinker. And again, per the below study with less effort. So why isn't shorter being taught? Meanwhile you guys tinker with pitches and measure velo, so have you ever tinkered with SHORTER strides and measure velo? Because unless there's research to say otherwise the only benefit of a long stride length is "effective" velo with a further out release. Here's the study: sabr.org/journal/article/the-effect-of-stride-length-on-pitched-ball-velocity/ Something that makes me go "hmmmmm"

We're definitely not telling everyone to have a longer stride. Long strides work if you don't jump off the back leg and can rotate well. Short strides also work really well for a decent amount of guys. We don't coach our guys all one way or the other. The optimal stride length really depends on the pitcher's anatomy which is why there are a ton of guys with both long and short strides (Emilio Pagan long, Brusdar Graterol short) who can can throw in the 100s.
@concisecontenttv Жыл бұрын
@Tread Athletics I didn't mean to imply you teach long stride only. But with any many guys as you have come through you're one of the ones who could test shorter strides. Most of the research mentioned sounds like "correlation btwn high velocity throwers and X" but what about causation?
