Effortless delivery - Carries ridiculous velo deep into games , 3 plus pitches He’s an absolute monster

I agree. 7 innings and pitched still up at the 99+? Who else in the MLB does that right this moment?

So he's now had 8 MLB starts and is amazing..2different sliders the split/sinker..curbeball and 2 and 4 seam fastballs..with excellent command..he hits the edge of zone as much as I do in the SHOW..EVER pitch has crazy movement and velocity

Should definitely do a mechanical breakdown on Ronny Henriquez with the Twins, 5'10 155 lbs throws 95

He has old school mechanics and i love it. On top of that, he hides the ball until very late due to a relatively short arm circle. He has command in the strike zone ...guy is very impressive to say the least.

Excellent stuff. His coil kinda reminds me of Felix Hernández's.

A 5'7 pitcher would be mid high 80s with that movement. Thats all levers, but he a beast. Looks easy af movement.
@BelovedChatter Жыл бұрын
That's a fact. But imagine if Skenes tried to contort his body like a 5'7 pitcher - he'd never throw a strike (said as a 6'5 former pitcher)

Don’t kill me y’all I’m not a baseball expert by any means but what is the supposed concern about skenes’ fastball shape and can he fix it?
@treadathletics Жыл бұрын
They're talking about his fastball's movement profile. It can be changed by changing grips and doing some pitch design, but I wouldn't worry about it especially for guys who can throw in the 100s like Skenes.
@robhamilton47369 ай бұрын
Not sure I agree friend. I have known many guys between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 10 that pitch just as fast so saying those body differences will not allow a shorter person to reach those speeds is wrong. In person with my own eyes a pitcher on my High School teem was 5 foot 7 and throwing 96 MPH. And that was High School. At college level he struggled to get into college due to his height but he ultimately went on to pitch for University of Arizona which was saying something back in 1990. I will say that where you are correct is that I think his size worked against him in the long run due to his lengthy injury list that ended his baseball days by 1991.

Check out similarity with Danny Cox, 1980s Card RHP I played with in minors. Remarkable in every way! Cox was tremendous, Hall of Fame if not injured!

I land very heel first regardless of my head and torso position at landing, I do get more velo (~3-4mph) from keeping the torso further back. My question is for self analysis of pitching, should I take front foot plant/strike to be when the heel lands or when my foot is completely on the ground?
@treadathletics Жыл бұрын
You should look at front foot weight bearing, which is likely going to be a few frames after your heel strikes.

@@treadathleticsawesome thank you, love watching the mechanical breakdowns it's cool to learn everything and helps with my own mechanics
Sorry, the mechanical delivery observed seems to highly stressful on the elbow area.... I hope I am wrong, but doubt longevity will be part of this story on the pitching journey.... The best mechanics for low stress on the arm involves DEACCELERATION of the arm by proper use of the trunk core of a pitcher... this explains why physical size matters not... Dr. Tom House is a pioneer in this area of physical science of kinesiology. Nolan Ryans Pitchers Bible goes a long way to decrypting how to throw at optimum speeds and allow increasing speeds throughout a game through proper nutrition & conditioning.

@@FunkSquadTV17 I disagree with perfect mechanics. Hes still young. He is able to muscle the baseball which is fine against kids. His slider lacks movement. But at the next level he will have to clean some of that up. Look at Degrom it looks like hes playing catch. No wasted movement.

How do you think his lack of vertical break, similar to hunter greens, will effect his ability to throw well at the mlb level?
@treadathletics Жыл бұрын
It'll be interesting. His release height is almost identical, so it's hard to lean into VAA. May have to increase his change-up usage if his fastball starts to get hit similarly to how Greene's was early in his career.
