My wife who is Turkish made Menemen for my parents the first time they visited us here in Antalya. Being slightly old, and typical English, used to Fish and Chips and roast dinners, they both looked at the red eggy mixture. I knew what they were thinking, it wasn't to their taste at all. Then my wife produced home made bread, hot, straight from the oven and showed them how to dip the bread into the mixture... Oh my God... They wanted it every day after that 😅

Went to Patara in 2019 and planned to go again in 2020 but ... The beach is wonderful, as are the ruins. I walked around the ruins at 8am one morning, just beautiful: ancient monuments, goats and a sense of solitude.

Patara beach is for me the Number one in mediterranean and Cesme Ilica beach is the 2. best beach in Turkey... because it have a real White Beach like in the caribbean ;)

Can I just say, I really love these videos. They're so heartwarming! I watch them almost every week when I need to get away from it all. And the editing is excellent. Great video. Love the menemen and the acting 👍Patara visitor centre definitely different to when I last went but those views and the dunes are the same. Just Wonderful. Agree with an earlier comment re 'refikas kitchen' She is so enthusiastic and has some great videos/recipies on you tube, plus fab views of Istanbul 👍. Hope you get that mattress sorted soon. Anything is possible in Turkey 😉😁

We stay quite a lot in Patara, we have hiked to Kalkan from there. Your favourite column is a conglomerate rock, a sedimentary rock usually formed on ancient beaches or river beds.

You forgot to mix the eggs with the veggies when you first cracked them. Also, try separating the white part of the egg and use the yellow part only, that's how I do it and it's awesome.

You should, whilst still at the Mediterranean region, try having a Blue Journey (Mavi Yoluculuk in Turkish). Park your van somewhere and hire a boat for few days, they take you to amazing bays and coves with beautiful view and ancient sites. Maybe take a ferry from Mersin to Northern Turkish Cyprus?

hi chris and marienne.best menemen is made with scrambled eggs.its like a wet ommlette.and you suppose to put fresh green turkish chillies in them.chopped fine.and very ripe tomatoes so its almost like pasata.and sweet peppers of any colour you want.but there is a sweet pepper called cengelkoy hiyari.its a pointy long sweet pepper.than youre cooking on gas as they say.dont put paprika or chilli flakes.Just fresh green turkish chillies.they are tiny and deseed them.love the joy you spread.keep the light burning guys.;)

I always find the introduction to Turkey inspiring and I admire the way you cook in TREAD the dishes look wonderful and inviting but unfortunately I cannot eat tomatoes and certain vegetables because of my arthritis they make me ill what the eyes see and love the body doesn't and I also have to say the beach looks amazing I like the story of the history travelling is always fantastic and wonderful but it also helps when you have something wonderful to sleep on like a good mattress xxxxxxxxxxzzzzzzzzzz things are not going well in the UK especially the news it is very dismal the only happiness I have got is that I've been vaccinated for cover 19 so hopefully things will be looking up and I will be able to start travelling again and the hope the borders come down for you all the best and best wishes Ricky in the UK xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Turkey is doing well in vaccinations with over 15% of the people receiving a first dose. I believe they use Sinapharm, manufactured by a Chinese company. The UK has over 35% vaccinated with a first dose, but few with a second dose. This is encouraging news as continued vaccination is the key to restoring normal tourism.

Tourism the world wide is being affected .. but check and follow local guidelines (they are all different) and if the planes are flying and you are following regulations you should be fine - but life is one big risk assessment right now - stay safe - Marianne 👍🌺
