That neighbor is so sweet to bring you water and fruit, and give you permission to hunt his property as well. What a nice guy - please give him hugs and thank you's from us!!

I started watching metal detecting videos several years ago and learned a lot from them. I've never made a video but I know they must take a lot of time. My criticism is not directed just to you but almost all who post videos. No one shows the actual detecting any more. Just a dug hole in the ground with an object in it. From the older videos, I learned people's method of swinging the detector, sounds and VDI numbers for the finds, pin pointing methods, and how to dig a proper pug. Almost no one show these things in their videos now. You have a lot of nice finds.

A ton of targets! That red fence, is a gate piece off a stake bed truck. Looks like Tonka by the casting. I would say it's off the 1958 Ford one ton duel wheel farm pick up truck in Ford blue with a black bed and red stake bed gates. Nope I'm not an expert on toy trucks but I had one of those. And I know every piece of it because I played with mine until the paint wore off. What a great place to detect! Such a variety of items in one yard. Thanks for sharing your videos with all of us! Beeps.

That was fun! FYI What you thought was a brooch is actually a hair barrette. It's probably from the 1970's to 1990's. That paticular design made clipping back hair easier than some other designs.

Gees, JD ~ Where have you been ? I followed your site for years; always getting inspired from your many great finds. Then I would get my gear together and would go detecting too. I started detecting here in Fla. in 1999. I'm now working my 4th detector. When I think back , my favorite show that kept me on the edge of my seat was when you detected a large old home and property where you dug the most profound collection of silver items and coins. There was a silver baby spoon with a carving of a bird on the handle that was quite valuable. Then the trade off with the home owner where you showed her the Morgan $1 coin find that you really wanted to keep. Then you gave her money for it. Somehow, I think she ended up with the coin and the money. But your genius negotiating that allowed you more time detecting that property in exchange was brilliantly calculated ! Got a kick out of the basketball maneuvers that you would fit into a few of your outings. Are you officially retired from detecting ? Miss you, buddy ~

Hi JD The pendant with the sailing ship at 9:50 looks to me to be a late 1940's to early 50's Plymouth key chain. Plymouth always used a 3 masted sailing ship as their trademark, Great video, thanks.

J.D., that's a reed for a wind instrument. not sure which kind. I've found a dozen or so and they usually have that valve broken off like the one you found. Most likely parents couldn't stand the noise and made them play outside.

I guess I am sort of disappointed not knowing the dates of the coins you found on this hunt, and many others you record. It's not to say I don't enjoy your videos, but maybe you could carry a spray bottle like the Hoover Boys to expose your finds. When I start hunting I will bring like a windex bottle.....it will shorten the time it takes to clean the find off. Keep up the hunting, you're good at what you do.
