Superior Hunt and investigation, Brad ! For the landowner, what was here-to-for just a pit in the ground, you have proven, that the pit, is a colonial home site. I would love to see the smile on the face of the landowner. If the first coin you found is a US large cent, I would point out, the first United States Mint opened in 1794. I suspect the site is older than that. Both coins could be pre-revolutionary war ! That was a very thought provoking investigation and hunt. Your video begs the questions. Who were the people ? How long was the home site occupied ? What was their mode of sustainment ? Why did they leave ? And where did they go ? Brad, What you did not see and find at the site, may go a ways in the speculation, to answer those questions. That made my Saturday morning. Thank you my friend :-))

I live in NH and find many depressions when hunting. Have also found very old abandoned hunting camps deep in the woods. And long forgotten cemeteries with holes nearby.

Another great video. I'm sure it was a tough spring for hunting and filming. You got the same crummy weather we got in NY capital dist. As to not finding much those folks probably never had much anyway. Losing a cent or a half cent would probably have been pretty traumatic. Props for your determination.

No matter what you find these videos are great. Just to know from what you found we know someone lived there. Like buildings in Europe after the war most of the lumber was taken for other structures being built, only the foundations were left. Nice finds HH.

I suspect the reason you most often find spoons is because as children, we would abscond with the mismatched serving spoons to dig in the dirt with. I bet there are a dozen in my childhood homes back yard.

Wow! First time I've heard someone besides me mention the "Frozen Folk" legend! I first read about that when I was a kid. My grandmother had a book, "Mischief in the Mountains" I believe was the title, and it recounted the story of how older/invalid folk were put to sleep for the winter.

I think there may be a little truth to that legend. I'm also thinking that the digging them up in the Spring part didn't quite work out for them.

@@bige.3474 They didn't actually "bury" them. They were kept in hollowed-out logs covered with cedar boughs, after they had been drugged and bathed in a a "cedar tea". I don't have the book at this house. When I get hold of it, I'll look up the story and correct the errors in my recounting. Great videos!

You should bring a small 4 ft probe rod with you. There has to be some early outhouse pits around those places. Could find some very nice bottles!

Hey thanks for all that you do! great videos. FYI there is a bent tree at arround 2 min into this video. I don't know if this one is but my great grand father told me stories about them. the native Americans would bend trees like this to mark trails through the mountains from major sites of importance to them. harvesting foods, raw flint for tools, winter summer camp sites, ect.. if you see any more with in a mile or so that would be very cool!! thanks again *** ps they were usually about 1/2 to 1 mile apart in the mountains, farther in the valleys, and the horizontal piece was inline with the trail.

Hi Brad, I am addicted to your videos. I especially love because many of my ancestors lived in the Vermont mountains and I guess you probably have hunted their old homesites. Many lived in Rutland, Poultney, one came from Fulham, which I don’t believe exists anymore. Many were Revolutionary War Vets, marble quarry workers, Farmers and railroad workers. Try putting the coin in your pocket and let it row around with your other coins for a few weeks see if anything shows up. They call this the pocket tumbler. Hope it works I have seen coins after they have been carried this way and some do start showing signs of what they are. Another great video.
