The Rice Pattern blue and white dishes (produced by Tienshan) have a lengthy production range, over 150 years. There are a lot variations over the years and there should be a book written about the pattern but because it was a humble pattern for the export market to the West from China, it’s never been taken seriously as china. You’d probably be hard pressed to find someone who hasn’t eaten from one. Myself, I have a service for 12 (8 pieces per setting), plus a good number of service pieces, spoons, chop sticks, ginger jars, saki set (found at Good Will!), a coffee service, and about a half dozen tea pots of various sizes and shapes. I collect the plain blue and white with the chrysanthemum, shou with bats, or dragon cavetto. My hope is to add the more rare cavettos (koi, lotus and crane, and landscapes) to my hoard but I have not yet found them in my price range.

A friend of mine's house and its contents were destroyed in a California wildfire. His set of simple blue and white rice pattern bowls, cups and dishes were salvaged undamaged from the wreckage and cleaned up beautifully. Now they have a special place in his new house.

FYI. It is a good practice to wipe wood bowls with either 12 percent bleach or hydrogen peroxide until damp. Let them sit for msybe 10 minutes then wash in warm soapy water. Do not soak. After rinsing and drying, add your wonderful oil. Your piece will be disinfected and clean as well as beautiful.😊

Hi Tiffany…it is amazing what you get there. My husband is in pt and I have to drive him because he had knee replacement. I go our Goodwill. They are so expensive and find junk. There was Dollar Tree finds there, going for six dollars. This is one of your best ever finds. I love the mask, the brass, the mugs …just everything. The rabbit is adorable. I love art glass. I never knew about the rice feature in the plates and bowls…so neat. Your pets are adorable. Our hummingbirds have slowed down. You could use the Monkey Pod for a charcuterie board..just divided. Hope it cooled down there.

How did u take off the sticker

Hi Tammy! I use warm soapy water to remove the stickers from glasses, dishware and mugs because I wash them anyway. If they have an original sticker, I wash around it. On most other items, a hairdryer does the best job. Low heat and patience is the key. Once the glue heats up the sticker usually peels right off. On stubborn items or for extra sticky residue I use Pledge or Goof Off. Un-Du works great for paper items. I hope this helps! 😊💕
