China should tell Yellen to go home. She had her holiday touristing China. She flew all the way to China to pay homage to President Xi - like many leaders did to past Chinese Emperors - and wanted to save face by "warning" China about this and that. China's leaders just nod their head. Western diplomats simply lack that "finesse in diplomacy".

It sounds like Yellen is discussing the concept of overcapacity in the context of global economics, particularly about the supply and demand theory, innovation, and the production of electric vehicles (EVs) and green energy. Overcapacity can indeed be a complex issue, influenced by various factors including market dynamics, technological advancements, and government policies. In the case of EVs and green energy, overcapacity can be viewed differently depending on the perspective. From the standpoint of Western countries, overcapacity may be seen as a challenge due to the potential for increased competition and the need to adapt to changing market conditions. However, from the perspective of other regions, particularly those looking to adopt EVs and green energy technologies to support climate change efforts, overcapacity may be viewed more positively as it could lead to lower prices and greater accessibility to these technologies.

She's personally there to talk behind closed doors about China dumping US treasuries, how that's forcing US to run high interest rates, high interest rates that just saw their interest payment grow by more than the entire US military budget in 24 month. IN other words, she's actually there to beg for mercy, and she's talking tough to the media because she knows how bad it looks if Americans knew the real reason.

Affordable solar, batteries and EVs will accelerate the world to sustainable energy but will replace legacy power plants and ICE cars companies which is the real problem for the politicians. These legacy companies are very powerful lobbyist who shape policies and drive politicians to protect them at the expense of competitive startups. There are very competitive USA companies like Tesla which can compete globally. They only need free and fair competition to thrive globally. Protecting weak legacy companies will weaken competitive startups and ensure the USA declines. As for the workers when these legacy companies go under, they can work for competitive startups.

Global fossil fuels energy installed capacity is about 5,000 GW. Global solar increases about 400 GW in 2023. It will take nearly 30 years to switch fossil fuels to solar assuming energy consumption does not increase or increase in production keeps up with energy consumption increase. In fact solar production is far from overcapacity and needs to be increased so that it can replace fossil fuels in less than 30 years.

The notion that dual use technology trade poses a military threat seems to have a broad policy implication. There is generally confusion about the notion of national security in that it no longer applies to the military sphere but increasingly to economic interests vis-a-vis competition. The problem with sanctions as a penalty is that the other party can retaliate and may do so. China's economic interests in Russia is to a degree existential as it includes vast energy trade that is protected from Maritime risks that China may pushback against the threat of sanctions for these reasons. So sanctions against China may expose the U.S. to counter action risks as China has become more resilient against technology sanctions.

China understood Wrights Law, the west did not. China knows that with crisis, comes opportunity. China understood that with massive scale, comes lower costs. And while the west slept on the opportunity to become the global leaders in renewable for 20 years? China forged ahead knowing in time they would drive the costs down to a point where new markets would open to them. As it now has across the global south and to some degree already in Europe as well. The US et al is making a grave mistake not accepting China's products and expertise. Its going to set their economies back a decade at least. By 2035 China will be getting the vast majority of its energy for free, and the embedded energy costs in everything that it produces with be a fraction of what they are today. They will also be the leaders in automation of production as well. While the US will be suffering with the rising costs of an oil/gas infrastructure suffering from declining economies of scale. As we now are seeing renewables do to Australia's incumbent fossil fuel infrastructure. China sees the future. And they are rushing forward as fast as they can to get there. While the West is stuck in the past.....
