I think, out of all of the pests, that Mealy Bugs gross me out the least. I like to use a makeup pad (those round pads for removing makeup) and soak it with alcohol, and then use them to wipe off the leaves. They can reach so much more than a-tips. Also, I just leave the leaf with the alcohol on it - I’ve never had a problem from doing that… Thank you for sharing! 💜💚🪴

Oh really?? They gross me out the most I think. Just the gross fuzzy residue they leave around… eek. Great idea, I’ll have to try that!!

@@TatesPlants Oh that’s so funny that we’re opposites with that! I think, for me, it’s because they’re the easiest to see (spider mites sneak up on you so unless you’re diligently checking the backs of the leaves, you don’t notice them until they’re all over everything and doing damage), and I think mealy bugs do the least damage. I’m terrified of thrips - the videos I’ve seen about them really do scare me, and I don’t understand scale at all. I thought I did and scraped up one of my cacti thinking it had it, but now I’m not sure and I think I did more damage to it because afterwards, I saw a video where someone used alcohol to remove “scale” on their cactus and it was white, while mine was brown. When I asked about it, she said there’s different kinds of scale 🤷♀️. I think I might have scraped up my cactus for no reason now…. Anyway, that’s the logic of why mealy bugs seem to be the easiest, and least scary to me. I hope that makes sense!

Have you thought about chop and prop-ing your PPP? I know she is large and in charge (LOL) Buuuut she may push out more pink variegation for you and as we all know Philodendrons will grow back rather fast. IDK just a thoiught and of course you can make a video about it!! More content! lol. I enjoy you so much, thanks a million for your vids. Be well and stay safe Lil" sis. xoxo

I have thought about it sooo many times haha believe me. I almost chopped it in the spring, but then wanted to see it’s summer growth. Now I love how giant she is, so I’m thinking I’m gonna let her get to the top of my mirror then start pruning and propping a bit. I just love having such a giant PPP, I feel like you don’t see it very often! Thanks so much for watching my vids, you da best 🥰

I just had my first spidermite infestation:/ It sucked. But I am now more experienced in checking for bugs...my plants all live outside so usually caterpillars are my main problem. Can't wait to see your upcoming videos !

I have mealies in my collection as well. Driving me NUTS. Aside from spraying with natural stuff, I just started using SNS 209 organic systemic and have green lace wing larvae on order 🤞🏻🤞🏻 looking forward to seeing your journey with these stinking mealies!!

Can you please tell me what was in your spray bottle (cause I’ve used water bottle with a 1 teaspoon of dish soap not working) & what did you put on soil?? Not familiar with what you said
@TatesPlants2 жыл бұрын
It’s a powder form of an indoor pesticide, but I would recommend getting captain jacks dead bug brew or Eight
