Inhibition in this muscle due to short/ spastic subscapularis, latissimus dorsi, teres major, and pectoralis major muscles sets up the ideal conditions for repetitive stress in sports, such as swimming and rugby, and in any activity involving acceleration through internal/external rotation and flexion/extension of the shoulder complex.

Thank you! I don't know how I got this pain, what's interesting about it is that it's very intense once I press the exact trigger point, but not very painful at all when I do regular movements.

Same. I’m a pitcher and I’ve had this pain, haven’t had an MRI or anything but I can guarantee my teres minor is strained or something. I can move it around fine but when pressure is applied on the muscle it is painful. Same with when I throw a ball, after a couple throws my arm starts hurting, and I do all the stretches I’ve been told to do to help and it is still hurting. Can’t wait for the season to be over so it can rest up 😂

I use to think the problem is inside the shoulder until I started using the foam roller and notice every time I go at the back side of the shoulder I felt that pain there. And Yes it was what this man is saying.

Pretty good. Tenderness, not "soreness". Soreness is subjective, while tenderness is an objective sign, in response to digital pressure/ishchemic compression.

What is the exact mechanism of a trigger point “release”? You just press on it and miraculously it softens. Why? How? What is happening in the tissue exactly? And what is a trigger point exactly?

You get a trained therapist or masseuse to press it as hard as you will allow. Hold. And let go then repeat until it is depleted. It may take months but will eventually do the trick

This seems to be common with sports that involve overhead arm motion like tennis or volleyball which I play. I've had weird knots right around my armpit since I was a teen. Releasing it is pretty difficult because of the location and pain. Laying on a metal water bottle seems to help release it

@@MasterArmedforces it's used like a harder foam roller. So like a 500ml/1L metal water bottle. Yiylay on my side with the bottle contacting my teres minor/major. Your elbow is above your head. You choose how much weight you put on it to dug deeper into the trigger point once you find it

The same part that you described, I have chronic vasospasm pain, I became decartinitis for a while, the cause of tinnitus may be neck and shoulder spasm pain, because with physiotherapy and tinnitus needle is cut or reduced.

find a dry needling specialist for stubborn trigger points that bother you for months or years, they stick a thin needle in the trigger point and it will suddenly dissolve with a twitch

My teres minor issue seems to a little closer to the shoulder blade than where you point out but boy when I trigger it, it is quite apparent. I'm a custodian so I do a lot of sweeping motions and arm raising.
@Nielasher
@Nielasher 4 ай бұрын
It's not uncommon for trigger points in the teres minor to manifest slightly differently for each person. Your sweeping motions and arm raising as a custodian could certainly contribute to trigger point activation. If you haven't already, considering incorporating specific treatments or stretches might provide relief. 🙏

Anyone who can’t figure this out on their own - long before pain sets in, must be so dumb about their own bodies. Whatever area is fatigued, you work that area to relieve the fatigue. How complicated is that?
