I got one a few weeks ago. It’s faster than my internal hard drive in my MacBook m4 pro . I don’t hear the fan at all. Works great. Only downside for right now is that it takes a while for it to arrive.

I have the Trebleet. Not thrilled with the possibility of needing auxiliary power and how would you power it - usb power adapter from an outlet?

Connecting to a ThunderBolt port? No need for aux. power. A windows user with a USB4 port or maybe someone with a USB4 Dock might need it, just depends on much power the portprovides, (minimum is 7.5 watts but might supply more depending on the maker of the device).

@ I like the acasis. There’s a version 2 coming out of theirs. I think it has a fan on/off switch.

Has the manufacturer provided a solution for the speed reduction issue of the Kensington SD5000T5?

No word from Kensington or OWC at this point.

@@cwaynefox I find it hard to believe that those manufacturers were unaware of such a simple defect. It seems they rushed the release to capture an early market share. This appears to be a hardware chipset defect that likely cannot be resolved with software fixes like firmware updates. Moreover, since we’re in Korea and the product hasn’t officially launched here, purchasing it through Amazon would make any recall process incredibly inconvenient. Moving forward, I think I’ll boycott Kensington products.

@@comp534 not just Kensington. OWC and cable matters tb5 docks have the same problem.

@ I know that too.

@ “I think this issue arises because it operates based on ratio rather than boosting speed. When boosted at 80GB, one side gets 40GB. Since the enclosure operates at 40GB, applying the same ratio means one side gets 10GB. If the boosting shifts towards the read side, the bandwidth allocated to the write side ends up being 10GB, which matches the speed observed in actual benchmarks.”

Ugh quite expensive given it’s only one m.2 and no usb3.2 flexibilty
