Tree and Shrub Tour - Swift Creek Nursery - In this video I do quick tour of Swift Creek Nursery's Pot-in-Pot production area. I also shot a shade plant tour that I will put up soon. The lighting was super harsh in this one unfortunately.

Unfortunately, the lighting was super harsh when I was there. The material looks great though. I have videos for lots of these plants on my channel. Swift Creek is a wholesale nursery that sales to a lot of the garden centers and landscapers in North Carolina. Thanks for watching.

Love all the redbuds especially the Flame Throwers. Unfortunately, the deer prefer to feast on my Flame Throwers and Rising Sun. Fun fact, while you were away, I found your Irish older highly energetic brother from another mother’s youtube channel called John Lord’s Secret Garden. 😂

Isn’t John hilarious? 😆👍 The way he hacks into things gives me hope for my gardening skills. And, Jim’s advice has already saved soooo many of my plants, too.

I was drooling over those skip laurels! I planted a row of them several years ago and mine have done so good. Those and anise are my all time favorites in my deer-heavy property. Love em!

I relocated 2 small volunteer redbud that couldn't grow where they seeded. Hope they were small enough to move, they can live & grow in my yard. Nice shrub & tree lot, thanks for bringing us along. The pot in pot method is genius, removes all the dangers of growing in big pots.

Somebody else’s charming Christmas tree...fast forward 35 years and it’s now our huge problem. Two of them! Until I figured out they were deodor cedars, I assumed they were another pnw native like the big leaf maple we also have. A whole lot of trees for our modest yard. The birds love them.

For clump river birches that you are growing, is it better to plant three trees in a pot or prune the one tree to have three competing leaders? I’m trying the one tree three leader approach at the moment. Funny the deer started this experiment!

Hi, Jim. I'm watching this video right now. I've been trying to identify a tree that grows wild in our subdivision in East Tennessee. I took a picture of the tree and also took a leaf. I'm hoping I can identify it by watching this video. If not, where can I send a picture? Thank you so much.

I’m looking for. Swift Creek Varigated Privet. None are sold near me because they say they’re “invasive”. I’m sure you would not recommend then if that were so. Any suggestions? I also checked Plantsby mail. Thank you!

I love the nursery towards your doing! It's a shame that the lighting was so tough to work with. Have you ever toured the Camellia Forest nursery in chapel Hill? I bet they're going to look really spectacular soon with everything in bloom

Beautiful. Is red tip Phetonia the same as the Clyera? Hope at least the spelling was close 🤦🏻‍♀️! Lol. Great tour. I love how they “plant” the trees. Tfs. 👏🏻💕👏🏻

No, cleyera is different. They are slower growing than photinia, but they have the advantage of staying alive 😂

Got a quick question. Does suckers destroy a crepe myrtle tree? I prefer to leave them alone rather than try to cut them. Please help, Thanks!!
@JimPutnam
@JimPutnam 3 жыл бұрын
It won't destroy it, but it is better to cut them off. It takes energy from flowering

@@JimPutnam Thanks for your reply. The suckers were in full effect and the crepe still bloomed. Will the suckers turn into part of the trunk of the main tree?

Yeah. Most people put 3 or 4 to 9 on birches, but I agree with Monrovia that it is to hot in 8 and 9 in the southeast.
