Looks as if that tree had been struck by lightning. Pretty wood. I'm from USA and it looks a little like our Red Oak -- but darker. Nice vid!

I work for a crane company. I remove trees all the time. We rarely ever limb them up prior to lifting, and we pretty much always remove as much of the tree as possible in one, or two picks...this seems inefficient timewise?
@grapples113 жыл бұрын
Great Video Ace, I can imagine an Intermercato grapple up there, then wouldn't have to do the chain holding cut and fiddle around with the hook, but would the video be so fun?! Cam ;-)

I agree w/ Drydian. W/ a crane this tree is over kill. We have taken down bigger and badder in worst places with nothing but a chain and a rope. How about a 6'+ dia oak! Starting at the back fence and on a house with the top hanging half way in the front yard and the trunk over a gas main with no crane. This tree was done with only two people also. The tree was done in Suffolk VA after the hurricane Isabel. 2 people and a 2 day job!
@MadHatter5410 жыл бұрын
You must be better than Ace then. I would use a crane too!
@BrandonKeating10 жыл бұрын
Here's some food for thought. The tree is close to 2 buildings and only has a small garden area as a drop zone, so cutting and throwing logs has a high chance for damage to property. Another option would be to rig the logs, which would require very small pieces and take a long time, or you would easily go over your rigging gears capabilities. So I think a crane was the least crazy of all 3 options.

I couldn't handle some of the jobs I was on that would have been best with a crane. I believe it was lack of sales experience being able to incorporate into the bid. not once, not twice, but over and over! see ya tree co.

I personally think the measuring tape is a great tool for this type of job.. why the hell wouldn't you use it? Go over a bit on your "guessing" and you ruin every ones day, go under and you're not as efficient, tape measure takes the guess work out. Also when you work for a huge company like Ace, "guessing" is not part of the game.. these guys are professionals through and through and need to be that way on every job. No room for "guessing" when you're in the big leagues.
@AceTreeManagement10 жыл бұрын
Dstrukt2k2, at least your on the same page as me, its funny how everyone is worried about me using the measuring tape and not one person has asked a question about the crane??? or what can it lift, what is the maximum size piece you can take down? NOT one crane question at all, well with this style of crane we could only take 500kg max pieces at full boom height, SO how do you calculate the correct tree weight ??? do i have to reteach all of the Eddy Tree Experts, come on guys think a little harder about it before hitting that keyboard button, because once you over load a crane, kiss your ass good bye CHAMP explain that to the Work safe authorities.
@Dstrukt2k210 жыл бұрын
Ace Tree Management The guys who do guess work in situations like that because they have "Experience" are the ones who end up tipping a crane. Kudos to you mate, complacency and cockiness are killers in this industry, better to be 100% sure all the time, I'd love to come work on some of those monster trees with you guys, nothing even close to that big where I am here in Ontario!
