My husband died from Covid in 2021 and I left my job of 30 years last August. Mary, there are days when your channel lifts me up and I have to frequently discipline myself with a limit of your videos per day!!! I’m from South Carolina and we will probably never meet in this lifetime but I wish you could know how you have helped me. Someday, I shall stop by the porch on your heavenly mansion and visit. On that day, you will know.

People amaze me by some of their comments. You add things to your house or take things away that you like or don't like. You have a memory of or don't have a memory of. Things that are nostalgia to you or not nostalgia. Why the comments do they think they're you're gonna say, "Oh, you're so right. It's not my style. Let me take it away." You do what you like to do, and that's it, just as everybody else. I love your channel. I love the things that you do. I may not love all of them, but that's my opinion. I'm not gonna comment and let you know that I like something or don't like something. Why would I that's just my personal opinion. I love your channel, and I watch every video. You inspire me to think outside the box, and I love that.❤❤

The hydrangeas are beautiful ! My advice is don't trim them any more! Your are probably the kind that bloom on old wood and when you cut them back you are shocking them and they take a few years to come back. Just trim off the old blooms when they get brown and dried up . If you need to cut them back then don't expect them to bloom for a year or two .

My grandma had those chain-link gates and I like them too! I think decorating a home is all about things that mean something to you; kind of making your home a museum of you and your family by telling your story. I prefer some contrasts, differences to everything being matchy-matchy. As for hydrangeas...different hydrangeas should be pruned at different times. Those that bloom on old wood should be trimmed right after they flower. Those blooming on new wood should be pruned in late winter or early spring. Love hearing the nature sounds in the background of your videos!

A friend is dealing with Lyme, so we occasionally discuss this. 2 things that stuck in my mind are that some study indicated that Lyme is caused by a parasite and a way to 'remove those parasites' is via a foot-bath with hydrogen peroxide, which somehow pulls these out through the bottom of one's feet. If memory serves, one should soak for at least 20 minutes, but if you're considering this, it would be very wise to research that. Be well!

Mary, the hydrangeas look like mophead; therefore, you do not prune these in late winter/ early spring because you will cut all the buds off. If you have to prune, then you prune right after they flower in the summer.

I moved from California to Wisconsin 12 years ago. That first fall I planted about 100 tulip bulbs. One spring 26:09 morning as I was leaving for work most of them were blooming. They were beautiful! Fast forward to that same evening, when I got home. Imagine my dismay to see that every bloom was gone, leaving only the stems. Darn deer ate every one!!! Now I satisfy myself with different varieties of daffodils, which deer are not fond of 😄

As for your bottom comment….people don’t eat the same as they did back in the day, when people were out doing manual labor ALL DAY. They wore off the carbs and calories easily. Thanks for sharing your heritage. As for adding more cottages with 2 bedroom….Not everyone wants to vacation where kids are around. I appreciate the one bedroom units. My husband and I tend to go to “adult only” places. (Yes, we had kids and grandkids but love to get away to places where it is quiet.) 😊

In my last home (before current one) my favorite thing that drew me to the home was the entire east side of the house was planted in hydrangeas-the big mophead kind with the huge leaves. The blooms were mostly blue but some years, almost purple-they were so beautiful. I left the home and the husband and the girlfriend cut all of them down except two of the bushes. Not sure why I am telling you all this, but it broke my heart and they weren't even mine to being with. The home was built in 1940 and that original owner and her daughter planted them some time in the 1960's-they were stunning and just made the east side of the house. I do remember they need lots of water to bloom-lots meaning every few days depending upon the temperature.

I am further south in North Carolina and my hydrangeas are doing wonderfully this year because we had such a rainy spring. Unfortunately we haven't had rain now for a few weeks and the beautiful flowers are starting to burn but I am cutting the pretty ones and enjoying them in the house. I was thinking that possibly the deer could have been eating the buds since you live in a wooded area but often as you probably know separating a plant will give it new life I have been a hydrangea fanatic for about 25 years now because they are so long lasting outside and inside❤

My nephew contracted Lyme disease when he was about 10 and the doctor told my sister and her husband to give him grapefruit seed extract and colloidal silver. It took all the symptoms away and he hasn't had any trouble since and he was hurting so bad that they had to push him around in a stroller for a while because his legs hurt so bad. I love the sound of the rain at the end. It reminded me of those ASMR videos. You should try to do one where instead of playing the music, just let us hear the natural sounds of you moving about in your garden or home doing things. It's very calming to hear the birds and watch the cat being silly, or just the sounds of you baking.

I, too, have struggled with getting my older, large hydrangeas to bloom every year, but this year, they are going strong. I’m careful not to prune these at the wrong time of year, and feed them with compost and organic fertilizer every late winter/ early spring. I know that mine are planted in the strong westerly sun, and they hate that but they are way too large to transplant at this point. So my guess is, in the past, their buds have gotten burned by a late winter/early spring freeze, thus accounting for the poor bloom performances. This year in upstate SC, we enjoyed a mild late winter and a long cool wet spring. All of these conditions, I believe, are contributing factors to our bumper crop of hydrangea blooms this summer. Yours are so beautiful!!!! Love your channel!!!

Mary I love wearing flipflop and I do go into the bush with them but I do sometimes wear my boots just incase. I guess you really know your garden as I do mine knowing when be sensible😊. As for gloves they say you really need to touch the soil to connect with Mother🌏🌎🌍. Of course if you do dangerous jobs I am sure you are wearing gloves like I do. Again the word comes in sensible. Also in Australia you can buy special flipflop from a podiatric shop so it is still do the work. Hope you can find a shop there too. Love everything you do even if not my cup of tea😉 still watch and learn from you. Thank you being a kind helpful person. 🫂

Would love to see the “boys” do a Q& A but have you and your husband ever done one together, I think that would be fun!

My sister-in-law has a large vegetable garden out in the woods. She brushes her dog everyday and takes the hair from the brush and spreads it around the garden it keeps the deer away.

Your glasses look nice on you! I live in Connecticut and my hydrangeas are just amazing this year!! Maybe because we have had so much rain! So many plants are looking good this year! 💐
