Shagaru Magala Might Be The COOLEST Monster I've Fought in MHR Sunbreak

For clarification, Gore is completely blind due to him still being in a juvenile state. Shagaru having fully developed eyes is due to him being fully grown, shedding his scales from an abyssal dark to a shining light. Always cool to see new players experiencing these guys for the first time, 4U is one of my favorite games and Shagaru is easily my favorite Elder Dragon since I’ve first fought him all those years ago

The lore behind Gore Magala is very vague, considering the fact that Gore Magala doesn't fit into any known category of Monster types, until it molts it's exoskeleton like exterior and evolves into Shagaru Magala, it then gets classified as an Elder Dragon. Though if anything, I'd want to rename the "Unknown" class into "Unique" class, for Monsters that aren't Elder Dragons, but don't fit into any other classification, though that's just my take on it.

4U is the single MH game I logged the most hours onto thus far and Shaggy will always have a special place in my heart. I love that his theme sounds like a heroic final stand, it's so fitting. If I didn't have the prior experience of fighting him like a thousand times with several different weapons, I probably would have chugged potions, too. Although his new moves they added were a welcome (and shocking) addition. He didn't have lasers before XD. Another welcome change is that his floor explosions are now random and have a much shorter duration. They used to target specific people and they'd be going for much of the fight. Definitely gotta keep nulberries on you if you don't already. Lots of blights can make a fight miserable, and eating one will also reduce the frenzy meter by half, so they're worth the inventory slot just in case you run into problems.

Shagura magala and the malzeno variant are my favorite monsters in the franchise, designs fantastic, fights fantastic, overall just amazing

Getting my ass beat by primordial, even amatsu i beat on my second try, even with swaxe, ls or sns i hardly can get to the second phase without one cart. Skill issue i guess

I did use to imagine Gore was an Elder in training which is why it could still be trapped. Until we got the lore drop of Gore are born not as chest bursters, but actually specific Shagaru spores turn monsters into gore magala, which is why its classified as a ??? cause it could have been any monster type before hand

the "turning other monsters into a gore magala" thing might be slightly mistranslated. like you mentioned, gore magala was originally xenomorph inspired, and more recent alien lore has the chestbursters be partially made from the host's dna, so it's possible that the new gore magala lore was changed to reflect that part of alien lore.

Fun fact : the Gore Magala is not in any catagory of monster the shagaru is in the elder dragon category but gore is simply labeled as unknown or unique plus did you know that he always goes back where he was born to shed is skin and becoming the shagaru

Gore and Shagaru are that family of monsters that i can hunt reliably and never get bettayed by muscle memory, I became their only predator. Now heres the information on how Frenzy works, once you get inflicted with the initial stage of it, it has a gauge, you cannot allow the gauge to fill up without doing a lot of DPS, if you dont do enough DPS youll get the red debuff, which doubled any Frenzy attack you take from Gore/Shagaru, a way to lower the Gauge is by eating a nullberry, which will lower the gauge, but it will not reset it, if you do enough DPS before the gauge fills up you get the blue buff, youve overcomed the Frenzy, you gain a temporary imunity towards picking up the debuff again during this buff, and your Crits are enhanced. The essence of the Frenzy is to either succumb, or to overcome it and make it your strength.

magala is like a flower to me gore is when flower havent open, eyes still covered, stiff wings shagala is a bloom flower, everything spread wide and flowy looking

I think this was a good example of why I miss limited healing resources. It forces you to really learn the fight to overcome it. Great vid though!

There’s a lot of ways I can make things harder on myself, but most aren’t very satisfying and just leave me with the itching feeling that I can stop at any time. But when the devs put in something tough on its own that I have to learn and master to progress, it feels good

@@emblemblade9245 Monster hunter is always challenging, infinite restock or not. I get what you're saying, but at the same time, deliberately restocking is something you go out of your way to do, not something the game does for you, so there is a degree of choice here.

This monster and its weapons have some of the coolest designs. And a quick tip, if you take a fast look at the mini map, you can see a dotted line showing you if and where the monster is running.

Something that gave me existential dread was the shagaru is one of the final bosses of old monster hunter and granted tri and 4U are a little more lenient like GU but it is still old monster hunter meaning you forgot to eat or have the right equipment you are screw Mad respect for those that hunted them in tri and 4U

I HIGHLY recommend checking out 4U because the Magalas have a way better introduction there than in Sunbreak. Speaking of intros though, and I know that you’ve streamed past this, Chaotic Gore has my favorite introduction in all of Rise and Sunbreak.

since i happen to watch your video somewhere i can type, i gotta tell you, you're missing on a lot of damage by not using the correct element with bow (CB too ? i think elemental is the best in this particular game?) you're probably doing at best, half the damage you should with the wrong element, the price to pay for elemental weapons to be good is, you have to build and augment one for each element basically which can be a chore depending on the game, but realistically, a non qurio awakened or whatever it called, fire bow, would do better than the ice one here, if you play this particular bow for it appearance, those can be swapped around too, same for armor parts, i really enjoyed watching you go through world up to here, seeing the change as you get better, still surprised your choice was CB as a beginner, it was also mine back in 4U and i didnt know it was supposed to be a complicated weapon, i just assumed everything was complicated and rolled with it i guess
