For this solo overnight in the woods, there’s no tent, no sleeping bag or roll mat. It’s no ordinary solo overnight in the woods! We decided to embark on a journey of experimentation! How much heat can we generate and contain. The Space Blanket Cabin was born.

Interesting. A couple of thoughts: for heat, try digging a small hole in the middle of the hut. Heat a few hand-sized stones in the fire, then (carefully) move them into the hole when you're ready to bed down. You could also have repositioned the 6th blanket by taping one edge at a diagonal angle alongside your hut doorway, then anchor the opposite corner to the ground so that it forms a sort of vestibule that would block wind and reflect the heat inside. The remaining flap could also be closed or just allowed to hang down over the outside opening to increase heat retention even more. Oh; in addition to bringing butter next time, add a strip of bacon.

Hey Cetok! I must say, excellent suggestions all around! Especially regarding the bacon 🥓 😂 thanks for your comment my friend 👍

The simple addition of a piece of clear plastic such as a piece of painters drop cloth covering your entrance opening would have made a night and day difference in keeping the heat in.

That’s actually an excellent suggestion, I’ll definitely put it into practice the next time I attempt something like this! Thanks Robert! Much appreciated 👍

You could add a slice of ham or slices of tomato and different cheeses to mix it up; maybe too much space inside to be warm maybe make shorter and closer to body length more like a tent shape

If you have the room, pre tape these together at home. Use gaffer tape (Sticks but easily removable) to a garage or basement floor, nice and straight. Tape the blankets together using a great tape like Gorilla tape, in white or match your color or pattern of the emergency blanket. Tape them into a huge tarp size, like 4m x 4m or 5m x 5m. And make the tarp pyramid or tipi using cut tennis balls over the stick to hold up the emergency tarp bivvy and not puncture it. I'd live to see it! In a large emergency blanket pyramid you should be able to put a cot and have a candle heater that reflects 90% of the heat beck to you...

Wish there was bamboo where I live. So much you can do with it. I shot and cooked a woodpecker with a bic lighter and ate it when I was like 13 or something. That would make a real good video nowadays. 😂

i used to have a 6-ft. tipi hand-stitched together from old corduroy pant legs (scrounged from the 'free box' in People's Park!) and 6 bamboo poles. sometimes, i used 2 brown plastic tarps. my feet would stick out, but i would just curl up to sleep, anyway!...... your bamboo is too thin for this 'mini-tipi', so i'd duct tape 3 thin poles to make a single pole/(X6)...... 3 'space blanket' liner on the inside is a great idea! thank you!

Great vid. As bamboo is flexible, an arched back to the shelter would have reduced the space to heat and shed the rain.

Love the dry wit, self depreciating humor. He works very hard at his overnight shelter, just watched the underground shelter episode also. I kind of get a Monty Python vibe from this guy. 👍

Have you tried using plastic wrap? I think it would be warmer to wrap the walls first with the plastic wrap; put it door thr first thing to do would be to wrap the roof both ways then tape space blanket to the top; do the two opposing walls next then wrap the 3rd wall from the 1 st to opposite wall, to do last wall make a X with a box around wrap this as single wall attach at corner this is door attach space blankets on inside walls should be warm and waterproof if have enough wraps on ceiling of building! Would love to watch have you tried a Dakota fire hole for added warmth

Brilliant as always. I've been using the ridgemonkey for yrs in my Angling. Here's something you may like if you like eggs. At home mix your eggs however many you like and pour them into a empty coke bottle or similar. Spray your ridgmonkey with some spray oil then pour your eggs in of course . Always cook on a low not aggressive flame. P.s I've given your channel a mention on my recent knife vlog in the card section. Stay stealth my man peace out..

Ok so 10 minutes in and I had to stop and subscribe. I love this concept for an emergency shelter. Nice job. I am going to copy the tin of fire starters from you the ones I have made involve makeup pads Vaseline and candle wax they are very durable and water proof but take time to make but your little tin of cotton balls is so much faster to create. Good camp here.👍

Another entertaining video bud. Really liked the space blanket shelter, but just as well we don't have a big bad Wolf in the British country side as he could have "huffed & puffed" and blown your house down lol. Try using the two A frames opposite each other one slightly lower then the other and have full length opening along the top, put your small fire in the middle, Works fantastic. The sky's the limit now you have that toaster mate, take some tomatoes, onion and ham, mix it right up ! Keep up the good work, I really enjoy all the videos. Big thumbs up. Regards Moose

Just a few days ago I used a cigarette lighter to heat up a space blanket. Ive got one in the car that I use until its time for me to get clocked in at work and I wondered if it would work. Id say a shelter like that you might be able to heat it nicely with a lantern 🤔. Oh and by they way, I'm craving a toasted cheese sandwich now 😆. So thanks😊

Your flat top shelter design and Fire 🔥 reflection is totally 100% OFF, keep on trying and developing your skills and knowledges and wisdoms of the survival skills, Sad Truth is European’s put Native American Indians in Reservations so Real survival skills in this North America land and history and cultures didn’t get passed down to dictators children’s, if Europeans know how to respect Natives and Harmony with Natives then different histories.
