Love the simplicity, nothing to complicated. Hit the woods, simple gear , simple food, what more do you need?. Fire lighting, top notch now and the cooking looks better then it did, still simple, but that's all you need, hot and wholesome. Do like the filming work too , keep up the good work mate, I find it very entertaining and always makes me reach for my bugout bag. Big thumbs up.

Thanks Moosey! Much appreciated my friend! I’ve got some pretty big videos planned so in the mean time it’s going to be some chilled out camps I reckon! As you said, keep it simple, nothing complicated. Thanks again my friend!

Something I'm experimenting with regarding 7 S' of camouflage: If you use small branches, shave off the twigs with fixed blade, you can slide them through those sleeves intended for tent poles, and you shouldn't have any shine from them. You can also break up the shape of the hoop by just taking a fistful of grass or some vines or whatever is lying around (leaves, whatever) and just sprinkle them over the hoop shape chaotically. It blends with the camo and if done right, it should help to break up the hoop shape more. I might also be over-thinking this. I don't know.

There's one item I,ve never heard anyone talk about for fire starting, especially in wet climate conditions if Carbide, it was used by coal miners before batteries. It was in a bottom section of the lamp they were and a upper container held water which dripped on the carbide and produced actcetelane gas which gave a flame to see by. Personally I would not want to wear a bomb on my head but that's what was used in those days. I found some cans of carbide at an army surplus store and include it in my kits,prepare your kindling and let the water be the help to ignition.
@ManDogWild2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark! That’s very interesting info regarding the Carbide! I’ll have to look into acquiring some and bringing it to the channel! Thanks for letting me know about it bud! Much appreciated 👍

As a fireman I insoected many petrol stations, as the legislation still applies the storage of petroleum spirit & mixtures of calcium carbide. My local antique shop usually has some carbide lamps in stock too. @@ManDogWild

This tent isn’t thought trough, it has a bug net, and yet theres a hole 1-2 fingers wide where the zippers meet, which makes the bug net useless. You might be ok mosquito wise, but nothing will protect you from ticks, spiders and other crawling insects

see, you decided to give a air bed another try, lol. That looks like a klymit? But the valve looks different to mine, had it a couple of years now, great for fitting in a bivvy bag, you can also buy a armoured one, only thing thats put me off buying one is cant find a insulated version, so just use a mat under mine to stop punctures, not had any yet, fingers crossed, lol. How did you get on with it?
@ManDogWild2 жыл бұрын
That is a Klymit yessir! I’ve got a trip planned that requires more compact, lightweight gear so I spent some time searching and for the most part Klymit appear to have positive reviews and so far so good! The real test is going to be the 8 or 9 days required of it on this upcoming trip 😂 thanks for your comment, much appreciated as always John!

@ManDogWild2 жыл бұрын
Hey Amanda! The Dutch Bivi is an awesome piece of kit, very roomy inside! The grill pan kit is a RidgeMonkey Compact Connect Sandwich Toaster - I’ll be doing a review on it soon, it’s pretty cool, it can split into two so you can use them as two frying pans also. Thanks for your comment Amanda, much appreciated 👍

You have a wonderfull Dutch Bivvy, so I'm curious...Why would you put a tarp over it? 1}The Bivvy is already very waterproof. 2] You are now no loner in a stealth situation, something the bivvy alone offers. Looking at your whole set up, why not just use a tent?
@ManDogWild Жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, good questions my friend. I think on this specific camp there was potential for rain. So I most probably strung the Basha up to keep my gear dry so I don't have to pack it wet, and to be able to stay outside the Bivvy if rain did come 👍
