"big sister" has a different meaning in most northern provinces of china, it's a old fashioned way being used to call middle aged female ladies, nowadays no young people would use this word again, and most females would not prefer being called this way, so if you use this way is like calling someone "hey old man" but in a funny way, lol

Meanwhile in Korea, if you fail to address someone elder than you as 'Big Bro' or 'Big Sis' (either on purpose or ignorance of the person's age), you will be labeled as RUDE. But in China, girls don't wish to be reminded of their age. I called a lady in her 50s 'Ah Yi (Aunt)' and she went "Hey, I'm not that old! Just call me Jie Jie!" 😂

not true. there are polite phrases, its formal and informal korean. „big bro” and „big sis” means unnie/noona, hyung/oppa, are used in a close relationship with someone. if a boy called these girls "ajumma" - middle-aged woman, the reaction would be the same. and if you called someone in the street oppa or unnie, it would be intrusive and just weird.(sorry for my english, its not my first language). so you’re wrong, don't tell people such stupid things.

In China, If you are in 20, you can call women of 30-40 大姐 (big/older sister) , women of 40-60 is 阿姨(Auntie). "big sister" is older than you but you are apparently the same generation. Those girls are definitely not Auntie but they are mad "do i look older than that man?"
Thats why i cannot understand. Because i saw a lot of this prank i assume he called them aunties.

Jie already means big sister/ older sister. Da Jie which is big old sis, is usually used by my mom’s generation to call their older peers. Younger urban people already use it less, when they do they usually use it to call aunties or older ladies working in community or labor works, ie. Janitor, food court lady, to be polite. If they want to be polite to same generation girls they can simply call them jie, or jie jie, or more popular, xiao jie jie, which means little older sister or just means pretty girls today.
