This tree drops it's fruits late, after frost. One of the three best trees for attracting deer and turkey. Swamp White Oak and Chestnuts being the other two. Persimmons are very sweet when ripe.

Thank you, love your videos. I have identified a half dozen on out homestead. They never produce fruit, they did flower this year, but nothing came of it. Where can I get info on how to get them to produce? Do they need to be certain age, male/female for pollination?? I have found little info on these aspects. TIA for any help.

Only female trees produce fruit.

oooh thanks for mentioning how they sucker ; ; I was considering a persimmon for my yard, but it would be near garden beds, and you shouldn't plant a tree that sends suckers near a garden bed - a nightmare to weed the suckers out.
