Excellent video, I have been planning on buying a checkpoint SL6gen 3, you helped me justify my purchase decision. I have discussed with my bike shop,the possibility of swapping out the sram 40t for the sram 38t or a wolf tooth 36t front ring before purchasing, my shop is always willing to work with me. I also plan on installing 50mm tires at the get go!

I went with the ICAN Vortex gravel carbon tubeless wheels. They roll great.

Merci du compte rendu. J'ai essayer hier le SL 6 2023 (en spécial) et il était très bien mais plus disponible dans ma grandeur. IL y a aussi un spécial sur le SL7 2ième génération et il me tente à mort. En plus, il vient avec 2 plateaux en avant. J'aime bien le 1X de mon vélo de montagne, mais étant issue de la route, je préfère un 2X en avant pour un gravel. J'attend ta prochaine vidéo. En passant difficile à croire que le moyen du SL 5 soit d'aussi piètre qualité. Franchement il y a eu manque de Trek sur cet aspect.

@@yannickpaduano je n’ai jamais roulé un 2x. Le gen2 et gen3 sont très différents au niveau géométrie. Je n’aime pas une géométrie course puisque je fais du vélo depuis 5 ans seulement et majoritairement du mtb et fatbike. Je suis habitué à 3-6 degrés d’engagement sur mes hubs donc j’ai remarqué ca à ma première sortie

Thx for the info. I live in a flat country, so gearing should be fine i guess? Did you find a solution for the engagement of the hub? In a dt swiss 350 / 240 hub you can change the used ‘cog’ like 34 for a version with more teeth and solve that problem easily. Can that be done on these wheels? I think this trek has a lot of pro’s for me. Udh, threaded bottombracket, etc.

@@cyclingjack you are welcome. Unfortunately the infiny hubs don’t have the possibility to change de engagement like the DT swiss 350/240 to a 54t rachet. The solution will be to change the wheels. I’ll go Bontrager 37V pro for next season. It’ll have 108 engagement points so 3.3 degrees in between each engagement point.

@ i recommend the SL6 unless you go the same route that I am taking which is changing the wheels and cassette.

They don't have a grx version so for me it's a no go. Btw Shimano has some new carbon wheels in their 800 series.

@sebmour I rode an Orbea Orca from mid 2000 ish until a couple of years ago with shimano 105. Now I'm looking for a gravel bike to be able to ride after 2 hernia operations. It should be something for the next 15-20 years so I'm looking into the warranties too. Cube has nice bikes but doesn't offer long guarantee. Other brands do but are not including suspension parts of the frame. Think for instance kingpin and isospeed. I think I'll opt for a Giant and add suspension stem if needed.

@ hope you get back on the bike comfortably after those 2 operations. I have a canyon seatpost that I like. It flexes and mated to the isospeed it’s comfy. Did you think about going with a XC mtb for gravel or you hard a die hard road bike fan?

They should have made the iso speed bolt the same color as the thru axles, but at least I do have matching bottlecage bolts.😊 I wish it was a 2x system. The entry level sl5 is already too expensive imo and i dont think the sl6 and 7 ad much off a value compaired to the price. I have the 37pro (not v) wheels, wich I payed 1050euro, on another bike and i would definitely want to buy the 37v version for oy checkpoint ,but at the moment they are 1600euros online... Indeed the wheels take all the live out of this bike, but the weight can have an advantage sometimes.
