BEFORE YOU BUY: Bike does not come stock with kickstand. The kickstand is an aftermarket upgrade, only Necessary if bike is used as commuter. Tires bound to go bald. I’ve had mine for just about two months now and I already need a new rear tire. Tires are a must have upgrade. When you get your bike, (if you buy from your local bike shop) make sure your quick release levers are tight. Make sure everything us tight and secure. Fork lockout is good for road riding and around town, although if you don’t use it as much, after each trail ride, slide the knob into the locked position just to break away any dust to avoid getting the knob stuck. Forks would be a smart upgrade down the line, although a beginner doesn’t need such a huge fork just yet. If you plan on getting a new fork, go with something affordable and versatile like an Air fork. Do not wash the bike with water, instead, spray “all surface cleaner” onto a rag or some paper towels and wipe the frame down. Taking the wheels off and spraying them can help get mud off. End caps for the crank arms would be a good thing to have. I’ve scraped the bottom my cranks up alot already and wished i had gotten some sooner. Stay safe riding your bike, and most importantly; have fun!

They have been pre-ordering bikes since March so people can order a bike now that already has a delivery date to the store. So if you want X bike you can buy one out of the ones they already have on the way and get it way faster since the order with the brand from months prior.

Exactly what James said! If you know how to properly run a business and can identify the projected needs of your customers in the near future then you will always have some stock. Just bought my Marlin 6 today as well! I will have it in my hands and on a trail in less than 5 days because it was on order already so I just bought it and reserved it for me. They also have one of each size on the Excalibur’s which I shouldn’t have driven before buying a lower end one for myself lmao that thing was fast and butter on asphalt

If you are going to use this for jumps, drops, etc. then i suggest spending more and getting a trail or enduro bike unless you are fine with replacing pretty much all the parts until the frame gives out. I got this 6 months ago, used it for jumps and drops (see my youtube videos), and I broke the fork, bottom bracket, rear wheel, and dented the frame in a crash. This bike can definitely handle trails and small jumps, but repetitive abuse will result in lots of broken parts

How does this compare to the 2021 specialized rockhopper comp or sport?
@yourfatson82624 жыл бұрын
It’s on par with them but it’s a little better
@morganlingsweiler98134 жыл бұрын
I did a lot of research on these. They are very close as far as components. The Marlin 6 is in between the sport and comp. I found out that the price for the rockhopper line was $50 bucks cheaper across the board when they were originally released. They did a good job of hiding any ads or advertisements at the lower price, I only stumbled upon a forum post that someone had mentioned the prices were all $50 cheaper before COVID. It makes even more sense if you subtract $50 from the prices and they are closer to the same spec levels as Trek. Anyways, you get a lockout fork with the 6 vs you dont have one on the sport rockhopper model, and the comp rockhopper has a 1x drivetrain in the U.S. whereas the marlin 6 has a 2x8. The Marlin 7 has a coil spring rockshox whereas the rockhopper elite has a air sprung judy fork, but it is $950 instead of $840. I wanted the Marlin 6 because the rockhopper feels like you have to lean further forward to reach the handlebars, however I couldn't get a for sure delivery date, so I ended up with the specialized rockhopper elite. I wish I could have been more patient, I would have liked the Trek better for the money.
@yourfatson82624 жыл бұрын
Morgan Lingsweiler you don’t want the 1x on the rockhopper it has vary little range and it will make it very hard to climb
@rayng43364 жыл бұрын
@@morganlingsweiler9813 I'm picking my elite up tomorrow. I think having a tubeless ready wheels adds tremendous value over the Marlin 7. Off the bat, the rims are already lighter and more expensive than the 7. Also, it comes with Shimano Deore shadow plus rear derailleur which has a built in clutch. Third it is equiped with Rockshox Judy air fork. Fourth, it comes ready with internal cable routing for a dropper post should you choose to install one. It may not have a 50t cassette, but 42t is plenty to get you up most mountains, any steeper and you'll need a ride or a ski lift. I had originally wanted a rockhoy Sport @ $600. After looking at the spec difference and small cost increase I decided on the Comp @ $750. But digging deeper, I finally realized the Elite offers tremendous value @ $950. Would I go for the expert for another $200? I had always considered Shimano superior to SRAM. So no.

@rakshitpahuja89604 жыл бұрын
16 speed
@MrHunterseeker4 жыл бұрын
2x8 which means it's meant to be an 8 speed (but people that don't know how to shift gears on a bike call it 16 speed) On this setup you are not meant to go through all the gears (1-8) while in gear 1 or gear 2 on the left shifter (front derailure). You are meant to shift only through 4 gears while in each gear on the left shifter. Like this: Front (left shifter) Rear (Right shifter) 1 1-4 2 4-8 When the left shifter is set to 1, you should never go past gear 4 on the right shifter. After you get to gear 4 on the right shifter, if you need to continue through the gears, first shift the left gear to 2, then continue shifting through your gears on the right shifter, 5-8. The reason for this, is to keep your chain as straight as possible, and it prevents loud shifts, grinding your cogs and chain drops/breaking your chain. I have noticed hardly anyone knows how and why bikes have a 3x and 2x setup, they believe it's to just "add more gears" and believe a 3x8 gives them 24 gears total, which is not true, they were built specifically to prevent you from wearing out your drivetrain or breaking your chain.

@@MrHunterseeker bruh almost everyone who owns a bike knows this, it's just the way of saying it, call it 16 or 2x8, nothing's wrong in either of them
@philipadofo3274 жыл бұрын
@@MrHunterseeker I think it clear to me now..so which means 2×8 is better than 3x8?
@MrHunterseeker4 жыл бұрын
@@philipadofo327 Depends on your personal preferences and if you have need for gears at all. If you live in a mountainous or hilly area, or you want to go faster, then you want gears. In all honesty, they are about the same, the only difference is weights. A 2x8 is lighter than 3x8 and depending on the size of the cogs, is about the same gear ratios as 3x8. Bikes get more expensive the lighter you get, because that is what racers need, the lightest bikes. Normal people don't need the lightest bikes, it's just a luxury.

Pre-ordered the Trek DS 3 2021 for October delivery but the bike shop called to tell me that these wont be coming in until Feb 2021. They tried to offer me a Trek Marlin 5 for October delivery, but I asked for a refund. I was able to order a Cannondale Trail 5 2020 from another bike shop to be delivered next week.

Love your videos! Can you please also review the grey colour in this marlin 6 2021. It would be really appreciated :)

Varun Rana He’s not going to buy another one just because of the colour

JGMThetriggered I don’t think he bought this one either. He probably gets the bike for a couple days to make a video. He has linked the bike shop in the description.

Chris Mahoney Lucky you! I’m 6’1 and run a large size but can’t find a new bike anywhere so I’ve resorted to fixing up my old 2014 Diamondback Sorrento which I’ve turned into a decent xc bike.
