Choosing between a small pack size and a livable tent space no longer has to be a hard choice. The Elixir 2 weighs only 2.2kg and features an impressive amount of space in the main sleeping area and dual vestibules.

I have used my Elixir 2 a few times over the winter and its a lovely tent. Nice place to be. It can also be pitched outer first using the ground sheet to support the poles, fly over that, crawl in and pitch the inner. Tried the outer pitch first my self in horrible cold rain and worked fine, bit of a faff but kept the inner dry.

Excited to see a review of the tent we bought from Trekitt and took on the Tour Mont Blanc! A great compromise between weight and cost. Loved the double entrance. Used one for kit and one for access. Great headroom for internal living on the one night it chucked it down with rain. (Still not sure how my 14 yr old and I managed to play i spy for an hour!) Seemed a bit more robust than the hubba hubba which was a bonus too. Didn't experience any real condensation issues and managed to even pack it up inner first the morning it rained! Great affordable lightweight (not ultra) tent. Dolomites next summer!!

Seems to be decent airflow around the base of the flysheet as well. Plenty of features and well thought out design. Glad you mentioned hydrostatic head - can cause a lot of confusion with the general public, and manufactures love using it as a sales gimmick! The only thing is that inner pitch first aspect for UK conditions. But all the pros outweigh that tbh. Good review 👍

Hello, nice video, thanks for sharing! We have been looking into buying this tent for hiking and backpacking as it seems a really good quality but we are a bit concerned about weight. So we wandered what part of the weight we could leave at home and not carrying. We can´t find any information on the web about the weight of each separate part that goes in the kit with this tent. Would it be possible for you to say the weight of the footprint and pegs separately? And what would be the weight of only the rainfly, tent body and poles together? Thank you in advance.

Ooh, that's a hard one. I don't think it'll fit WELL, but you might be able to squeeze it in. Personally, I'd opt for a tunnel tent to make life easier. You'll also reduce the risk of catching your derailleur on the lightweight flysheet. Harry

What’s the difference between this and the Hubba Hubba?
@trekitt
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
Hubba is made of siliconised nylon and is lighter & more packable (and consequently more expensive) Elixir uses polyester, making it heavier and less packable but with a lower price point Both are extremely similar in terms of features, space and ease of setup.

@@trekitt Thankyou, I have the Hubba Hubba but wouldn’t feel confident taking it out if it was windy. This may be a good alternative option for a windy night? Thanks
@trekitt
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
@@Northern_Rockhopper It'll perform almost identically. I used my old Hubba Hubba in some pretty windy conditions and it was fine, but this is subjective. If you need something to take more abuse, you'll need a 4 season tent. The MSR Access is essentially a 4-season version of the Hubba. www.trekitt.co.uk/sleep-shelter/tents/msr-access-2-tent-green__44144

@trekitt
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
@@Northern_Rockhopper The Fjallraven Abisko Lite 2 would also be worth considering. It's a tunnel tent, so slightly different to assemble but provides notable benefits in strong wind thanks to its long & comparably aerodynamic shape. It can also be pitched with the inner left attached, which as you'll know the Hubba/Elixir/etc range can't. The interior height is also reasonably good at just under a metre. www.trekitt.co.uk/sleep-shelter/tents/fjallraven-abisko-lite-2-pine-green__37012
