I went to my first trek(solo) last year. While reaching the highest base camp I had my periods in middle of the mountains. As a 19 yrs old girl who never travelled alone I panicked a lot at first. In my team I was the only girl there.I thought of quitting the trek from that point. But fortunately after witnessing the views and the support from my trekmates I changed my mind. After 4 days I successfully completed my first trek and my first solo trip with the blessings of the HIMALAYAS.

How to manage menstrual cups during Himalayan trek, as there are only dry toilets?

Dear Doc shree, nice to see your video explaining about your experiences in trekking and mensural cycle. While yes lots of myth about periods could be around. let me share my personal experience in my body and cycle not trekking but simply during your age used to be into sports .. most of the times the finals or key matches used to be during my menustral cycle. then it did not hurt me or anything.. after a decade or so body goes through a lot and bearing children and uterus surly has its own issues. since we relate to things only at the immedeate front we dont look at it as a side effect after a couple of decades and dont observe patterns this is my personal opinion why such exertion was probably avoided dueing these 4 days.... however best wishes to those whos body cooperates.

How do you manage to change pads/menstrual cups on a hike at a good time interval without regular facilities? Need some help there.

You can stop on the trail, ideally a bit ahead of the group, go into the bushes and change. It's best to take a person along with you to keep an eye out on the trail. Most of these Himalayan trails have no people on them, so it isn't usually a problem. Change and carry the menstrual waste back with you in a ziplock.

Hi, i am going on a spiti valley winter expedition end of December. I wikl be having my periods on those days. There are only dry toilests available at most places, and also no water. I am not use to menstrual cup as i havent ever tried it. Can tampon be a good option for this ?
