Ordinance Survey is like Helen Mirren and the NHS, something to be very proud of and to cherish. Well done the UK on showing the rest of us how to make beautiful maps.

As an engineer of many years can never understand why folding a map can cause so many problems. Looks a good concept, only ever brought the tide tables. Thanks

As a paper map lover I'm looking forward to investigating these. I've always loved OS maps - my dad was a map maker in the war and I was brought up on them. As a student in the late 70s at agricultural college, for some reason our horticultural lecturer was trying to fold up a map. I was so chuffed to be able to tell him how to do it! With 1:50,000 maps (and no doubt others) it's simply fold them in half horizontally, and then zig zag fold them vertically, and in half horizontally again. Simplzzzz! Having said that, I often do what you do and fold them up with the bit I want showing, but that does wear them out. First time I've commented, I think, but I really enjoy your channel.

I have always cut up an OS map of the area we've planned to hike and numbered and laminated them myself. At last it's been done for us. Thanks andy for the nod to this company.

See alot of foldables even growing up laminated. Guess we just go to sleeves now. Be nice to have that on your last upload. We saw that struggle. Always a mess in the wind.

I must admit I’m a bit ocd when it comes to maps so mine always get folded back correctly after a trip. Having said that, I think you’ve just converted me to Yellow maps. Thanks Andy. Atb.

These look really good I’d give them a go. I mainly look at my OS maps at home when planning routes. Once I’m there I tend to use the OS explorer downloaded map offline that’s downloaded to me handset as you don’t need signal to use it.

Nice one Andy lad, proper do. I print off sections of map and laminate them - but now an thinking of the same down to A5 or A6 and on a ring to place in the map holder on my handlebar bag of the bike. As up here my top area is about 40 miles tops and flat land 70 that's the area I choose, select area - and have each overlap just a bit then print, laminate and hole punch a corner for the ring to go through and place in the bag wherei can see it. Taking a P or brew brake I can swap them around.

Brilliant! A few times I'd cut down an OS map when we were orienteering, or hiking/riding certain areas to make life easier, but I'd still be left with a tatty piece of paper if it rained! By comparison, this looks great, thanks for sharing!

What a great idea and one I've never come cross before. A pity that they don't do the Lake District (yet?) which is my main area of interest. Fortunately I have access to 1:25000 & 1:50000 digital maps. I usually print off the area that I need and just laminate it for use but I always carry the full map in my pack, just in case. 🙂👍

Interesting. I tend to use the OS App (you can download the area you need in case of no signal and it shows where you are using GPS - its good value at about £30) but always carry the folded map in my pack and an A3 sacrificial photocopy stuffed in my pocket.

We need those in the US…..the US geological survey maps are a disaster! No wonder so many people get lost and are never seen again….hmmmmm….well we are having a crisis in our national parks here….dangerous!Looking for Gabby Petito they found 13 I think other bodies. What a horror!

Come on, you could just fold your map to the area you want and put it in a case. Or buy a laminated OS map and cut it down! Where’s the buy scout in you. This solves a problem that doesn’t exist, like so many things these days. And you can get maps for free on your phone with the download code printed on all new maps you buy. It’s basically an OS map cut down. But no doubt double the price.
@kentsurvivalgearreview5862 жыл бұрын
you could do those things, i was just showing that this makes it easier. maybe not for everyone but i'm happy i bought it.
