I like to think the Romulans used their intel on the Federation to select a vessel slated for future construction, one which Riker might recognize. That way when it was said he Captained the Titan, he might think, "Yeah, I remember that was a ship scheduled for construction in a few years. Makes sense I might serve as her Captain..." Ironically, the Romulans made a good choice.
@stryletz9 жыл бұрын
+CubanWriter Um, it wasn't the Romulans, it was an orphaned alien child with advanced technology. It was lonely, and wanted Riker to stay, so it created a simulation for him to do that. When it failed, another one was created where it was a Romulan plot to get information from Riker. At no point were the Romulans actually involved.
@CubanWriter9 жыл бұрын
+Matthew Stryletz Quite right, Matthew. Thank you for refreshing my memory of the episode. I only remembered the Romulan bits and not the resolution. This actually makes me realize Riker's knowledge of things was being tapped to create the simulation. Hence a ship may have been chosen that he knew would be constructed, and that he had interest in commanding one day.

I always found that Star Fleets ships (especially in its very early days) would be best served on a two platform basis ie the Galaxy and Nebula or Connie and Miranda the smaller being the support work horses! And with the Sovereign then the Luna would be the perfect secondary class because a condenced Sovereign would just look daft! Due to the Federations limited/ shared resources among its many equal planet/ members! With possibly a third being a science vessel! I love the Titan design! As a new platform is put through ie the Galaxy then all ships prior ie the Ambassador would cease to be built and certainly not refitted so as an old Ambassador goes in its stripped down recycled (grave yards would not exist) and out comes a Galaxy or in the this case as a Galaxy goes in out comes a Sovereign!

The whole sensor pod design makes no sense. The concept of a separate sensor pod is fine, but why shoehorn everything else into it if the idea was to keep interference down? Why three /dedicated/ probe launchers? Have any of the authors managed to justify this yet? A C2 centre/large scale life boat that can't be accessed without a) transporters, b) crawling through jefferies tubes, or c) extending an emergency escape tube? Hardly seems practical in an emergency.

@louisvarre21974 жыл бұрын
Simon Kerr I concur. Way too fast, however, he typically just talks at this increased speed while reading a script, again, typically only when there’s a guest on the show. In his defense, all three of these guys are talking way too fast. Maybe it’s a form of anxiety? Although, I can’t stand when he introduces himself at the begging of the podcast. I’m writing this 4 years after this video first aired, and I ‘think’ he’s a little better, of course now it’s his ‘thing,’ kinda a joke. BUT, He still says his name so fast it’s difficult to understand him. Also, there’s been comments from the UK that can’t even understand him! 😆

Samuel, you are cute in a nerdy white British boy kind of way but Jesus Christ I can barely understand what you say. Slow down, enunciate, breath through your nose and speak up.
@saquist9 жыл бұрын
Samuel, I recommend that you slow down your speech. The accent makes it difficult to understand when you rattle off technobabble and specs. -She's not the same size as a Nebula but it does have a similar length -No way, Sean, this ship can't do Warp 9.975. It has NONE of the Intrepid speed tech. No Warp field enhancer, No streamlined Hull, and no Variable Warp Field Geometry. -TITAN likely has Galaxy MKI phasers at 50 Petawatts -Limited Ablative Armor is appropriate as the ship has numerous penetrations to prevent it from working as well as the Defiant class -I doubt TITAN can hold all those shuttles. -65% of Sovereigns phaser fire would mean TITAN has 59.15 Petawatt phasers. (This is Galaxy Level 60PWs) -85% Shields of Sovereign would mean TITAN has 2502.4 PWs Shields (Sovereign 2944 PWs) -Judging by the shield output TITAN's two warp Cores each put out 78% of a Galaxy MKI Warp Core. *This means that TITAN is more powerful than Galaxy MKIII and Intrepid but not as Strong as the Defiant Class* -Sovereign Class is at best the same speed as the Galaxy whose original top speed was Warp 9.2. Sovereign may achieve Warp 9.3 or 9.4 because of it's more advanced coils and more powerful core and better hull geometry of the saucer. -Sovereign has a 7 Stream Warp Core producing far more power without the twin chambers. I doubt Luna's core would be considered an upgrade. (just going on your stats.) -I didn't know TITAN was mentioned in canon in TNG. That's AWESOME. Good data mining guys! -Very creative designing! (I'm one of those people that thought you purposely copied the Akira) Nice to see Sean Tourangeau!!!

Your first officer, I believe, is english, if I am correct. it is extremely hard to understand his words. he talks way too fast, runs his words into one another, and you can't understand him. i do suggest a universal translator, because he sounds way too manic, and too piped up on sugar. for the first officer: take a breath, slow your speaking down, enunciate every word so that we can understand you for pete's sake, calm yourself down. you are not an auctioneer, so there is no reason to talk like one. you run your words together. that's why people think you're speeding along in your speeches and talks. breathe, boy, breathe.....
