Given the ring, I maintain that the XCV-330 was probably a warp vessel within canon. 5:58 My reasoning goes as follows. The Vulcans have the most advanced warp drive in known space (the ring, which I see as one massive warp coil as opposed to many small warp coils in nacelles) pre-Federation. They know and understand the technology behind twin-nacelles, but the technology is not yet mature enough (warp 1-2) whereas the warp ring goes warp 6-7 so it is “illogical” to them to pursue inferior technology and give up their superior warp speeds. 18:00 I’d very much like that. 26:26 I’m honestly of the opinion that this could have been a good reason to have registry numbers for identification purposes. NAR for civilian, NCC for Starfleet craft. It could help with foiling incursion attempts because the registry doesn't match. 27:10 This ship could easily be a Ferengi vessel given how bug-like it is.

I always liked the Vulcan ships of Enterprise.

nova1972x agreed the Vulcan ships are mostly unadorned and more logical in their Simplicity and I think the warp ring is elegant and seems more advanced to me then too clunky engines on pylons especially the Vulcan ship with the swivel ring that can fold away when traveling at sub-light. But this shuttle seems to be severely lacking in the logic Department. Vulcan design should be very simple and definitely with form follows function in mind although I do realize that Vulcans to have an artistic side as well.
@novax-ig9yt7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, except for the shuttle in TMP, and the lander ship from First Contact, until Enterprise, we didn't get to see a lot of Vulcan ships. Prior to Enterprise, I had imagined them to resemble the Romulan Bird of Prey. it was great to see they had unique designs, especially the warp rings. In fact, I wonder if they indirectly influenced the design of the ship from Orville. In any event, I have heard some people criticize the Vulcan ships in Enterprise as being "too advanced," and that they seem more on par with TOS level of technology, and the Vulcans should be even more advanced by the ToS era. What some people forget is that the Vulcans demilitarized in season 4, and more or less dismantled the high command fleet.

Neat ship. I see what Stuart is saying about it looking Cardassian. This does resemble the Vulcan warp shuttle from TMP somewhat (one of my favorite ships ever). -- I'd like to see this and the Fed civilian cargo ship we didn't get to see from M2 or whichever, which was later seen on DS9 as a cargo ship. -- This Vulcan ship could be used for something. Still looks great.

The bridge module looks like it could be separate(also good to have a deflector in this case) from the main hull and its looks like a Ferengi marauder from behind.
@DrewLSsix7 жыл бұрын
Frank Forsthövel is the bridge capable of warp then? No real need for a deflector otherwise.
@adamlytle26157 жыл бұрын
I think given that it's a "transport", maybe the bridge is more akin to a cockpit. Commander Cockings did point out that it was not much bigger than a shuttle pod... so given that context the window makes a bit of sense to me.

The Caitians, Tholians and vulcan have the best looking ships and warp drives the fed giant warp rockets with long skinny connections that look like they should snap with the maneuvers they pull off. BTW the warp drive nasa is trying to pull off may creat a white hole in front of the ship and a black hole behind it good luck seeing where your going and living after the jump.

The shapes to me say Ferengi actually. But it definitely fits with Vulcan design. It reminds me of the Vulcan telepathic weapon they re-assembled in TNG when Riker & Picard joined that mercenary crew.

I think it's a good mix of the warp ringish design and a throw back to the Warp Sled like I could see this design aesthetic living on with Federation influenced tech into the Warp Sled.

@Huntracony7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, kind of. One thing this lacks about that though is the crampedness though, the puddle jumper was clearly made to have as much functionality in the little space the stargate gave them. This isn't. I'd love a fleetjards episode on the puddle jumper though.

Maybe in the scale charts there should be a house or a small apartment complex to give people a real world living space for comparison. To give an impression of how many people could fit in there.

Enterprise did the best for showing size that made sense followed up by TOS. TNG went off the scale making every ship huge and hard to picture. Even if the Capital ships did get bigger there should be more ships the size of the 1701 and even more the size of the NX-01 or smaller.
@Redshirt2147 жыл бұрын
You know, I almost like this ship better from the stern view... if that had been t5he bow you could have given the ship a nice big bridge and it would have looked a touch meatier up front, and narrowing towards the back. One could even say the prongs could have been cargo module clamps. Also, I think the half wrings have a bit of the Roman bird wings on them.
@WillPittenger7 жыл бұрын
Some of the features that I think you were treating as weapon ports or thrusters actually appear to match the docking ports. It'd help if you had a arrow pointing to what you where talking about. Also, if this lands, where are the gear? And why would a "transport" have weapons?

A correction of concept: Warp nacelle design is NOT superior than warp ring design at all! In ENT, Vulcan ring ship can break warp 5 and beyond, earth NX class can barely reach that.
@power5437 жыл бұрын
And then warp nacelles surpass the warp ring into warp 7/8/9/9.975 i was not comparing warp tech in ENT i was comparing the warp ring with later designs. And besides it was my opinion that design wise and aesthetically it is better.

@ Terkyards - I agree that the Vulcan Transport design is ugly. but, I disagree that its Less Advanced than Starfleet. Vulcans have had Warp for Centuries before Earth. and they can Travel faster and Smarter. the Vulcan engines are Extremely efficient . Fact is Starfleet later buys or has Federation warp nacelles made on Vulcan. and It was the Vulcans that made the Enterprise capable of Warp Travel, they gave the Technology reluctantly. Lastly since Vulcan is Pasisifistic , they don't need bulky Military starships but Vulcan Starships are capable of Defending themselves.

Russel Morin Can't really recall Galactica from that movie, but the ribbed look of the ship in the series was always meant to convey that armor was STRIPPED OFF, since it was retired from active duty. I got that from an interview with the designer.
