The lower decks on starbase 80 look extremely similar to lower decks of Drozana Station in Star Trek online with flickering blue lights and hanging chains, I was half expecting to hear “Bonnie kins Bonnie kins I see you”.

Beat me to it. :D Or at least those Devidians or whatever those guys from Time's Arrow were called.
@AtlassGaming10 күн бұрын
Agreed. Top half looks like K13 as we found it abandoned and the bottom half looks like Drozana

Would have been great to see a grungy Oberth docked at the station, their Defiant you could say, but with some modifications.

Perhaps a Soyuz that was forgotten about when they were all retired?

10:40 - DEFINITELY! In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the station has a few TOS style shuttles lying about. Maybe advance the concept of SB80 as to where Starfleet deposits its old, used or junk vessels and equipment for salvage and for sale?
@Captainjohntaylor11 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t be surprised if the shuttle bays were fully stocked with Discovery shuttles and tactical flyers as well 😅

Yes more contents on the station on starbase 80
@DavidKnowles010 күн бұрын
What I got from the episode is that Starfleet intentionally kept the station outdated because half of it is own by a knife gang.

Yes detailed analysis 🧐 please 🙏

Star base 80 could use a few dot maintance robots

If S80 has been there for 200 years then they would have traded with many different societies for parts to keep it going. I think that is why it looks the way it does.
@braddl944210 күн бұрын
Like honestly it looks like 4 or 5 different star bases put together.
@MarkLLawrence11 күн бұрын
Even rundown it was still beautiful. I'd love to see it fixed up proper in a later (or even prequel) show.

6:05 Probably food and water. Those food vendors gotta get their ingredients SOMEWHERE, having no replicators.

Starbase 80 is beautiful! What I think its resembling most is a watchtower class starbase from the Star Trek Vanguard novels. These were meant to be big and demonstrate the federation has a presence and interest in the area. Staking a claim.

1:43 I could see this place being brand new in like 2269-2272, hence the mixed looks.

Was built before the refit era started and gutting to do a station refit would've been too time intensive but they finished the outer hull in the refit era look.

Starbase 80 = a stationary version of Red Dwarf

If you think of a real world situation, a space station is like an old house. It does what is design to do. Provide everybody with a safe environment, and energy. Those criterias does not change in a 100 year. So why waste resources on upgrading an station, who provides all the needs that is expected, and needed?
@cahlash9 күн бұрын
It had this bizarre amalgam of TOS and Fallout vibes which worked surprisingly well.
@braddl944210 күн бұрын
Its like it got some updates but not a complete refit. Also half of it feels like it might have been a joint project with a species that lived nearby and their tech and aesthetics. Honestly it looks like they connected 3 to 5 different space stations together to make it.

This station feels based on the Drozana Station so much
@singletona0829 күн бұрын
It's based on the FASA trek RP's vanguard class station. The center bit is thinner but overal definitely has that look.

How about a Starbase 80 mini-series? :)

I wouldn't be surprised if this starbase survived the temporal cold war or the borg incursion.

Spat out from an alt timeline and starfleet just shrugged and started using it?
@DoctorWhoBookClub11 күн бұрын
Also reminds me of the “Star Trek Vanguard” space station from the covers of those novels.

Definitely has a FASA trek feel to it.

It looks like they built the station on top of another. 🤔

They need genetically engineered tribbles that crawl around the station and eat the grime off the walls.

I want t osee renders of what she'd looked like when new. Personal trheory is the acamenians technically own the station as part of star fleet's helping them post war but starfleet is administering it much like deep space 9. It gets the acamadians some legitimacy, helps their malcontents be societally useful while seperate from the government, and it allwos starfleet to have a nominal presince in sector.

I suppose poor 'Travel by Night is going to have to build this starbase as a 3D model now and then pick it to pieces.

The docking ring is somthing like about 20 decks tall given cerritos 11 deck suacer and the hight of the warp pilons and warp nacelles

Is it just me or does Starbase 80 look like the starbase in the painting in Picards quarters on the D? Did Picard have a painting of SB80 all this time??

I'm gonna need a bigger mop and bucket but ya... Getting her nice and tidy is a worthwhile project. Maybe a few internal improvements but nothing drastic. We WANT that 23rd century charm to the place... So ya I know like... about a dozen people who'd want to join in on assignment - cleanup So ya you ain't goin in alone friend.
