Yet another example of how Lower Decks did things better than pretty much any other of current era shows. This BoP fits in perfectly.

Well, to me, Lower Decks has finally put on screen a canon visual look of the K'Vort class Battlecruiser. Ever since in TNG episode 'Yesterday's Enterprise' and the rest of the show, all got is the blow-up or increase size of the classic Klingon Bird of Prey. But now, this year, thanks to Lower Decks has given us the Fans a canon visual look of the K'Vort class after all these years. Do hope the creators of Lower Decks do call this Klingon Ship the K'Vort class.

22:40 It looks like that dorsal block thing is powering their weapons. The light matches the one on the wings where the cannons are attached. Maybe they switched to plasma based weapons instead of disruptors.

While it's certainly a new design, when I first saw it I initially thought they were retconning a unique look for the K'Vort into canon (since, let's be real, just upsizing a B'rel into a new class just to explain model scaling problems was always more than a little silly). But since it likely is an older ship that we just haven't seen before (and likely one built sometime after the D5 Raptor but before the B'rel/K'Vort), those blue glows may be an indication of its age: You'll recall that several of the DIS Season 1 Klingon ships had blue glow tech in their designs. So their inclusion may visually suggest a ship design set between ENT and DIS, or between DIS and Star Trek III- one that either evolves into/out of those two design paths, or is outright merging them (ie: after the D7, they start taking D5-like designs and build them with some leftover DIS-era tech since that's what they still have available). Alternatively, if this is just a patchwork ship, them using leftover D5, DIS-era, and K'Vort tech to build this ship would also track.

I think the head works well as that style of cockpit section appears on a variety of design and if they'd stuck a D-7 head on it that would look mighty strange - this doesn't it looks older but still good.

As I talked about BlueBrixx on one of your recent livestreams, a couple of days ago I learnt of a "rumour leak" concerning TLG's (The Lego Group) allegedly 'snatching' the Star Trek licence for brick-based construction toys from the poor BlueBrixx. If the leak proves to be true, then we shall see first ST-themed Lego sets on shelves in the late 2025.

Personally, I love the spines on the back. It gives it a kaiju feel, which fits with the larger scale. The Rodan class of heavy warship.

The blue things have a very nacell like look, so I wonder if the larger size might have meant they needed to actually have one openly out there.

the dual-wing is actually purpose made for more passive cooling so the power shunts to the main disruptors can fire faster heavier and longer. as in ds9 if only the cooling was 66% better the same disruptors could output twice the damage.

For some reason I'm getting Romulan vibes from it. The pairs of wings give the hollow section vibe followed by later Romulan ships than the TOS ones, and the head is more avian than the regular BOP. So it could be a very old ship from the days of the Klingon-Romulan alliance.

I wonder where the bridge is. I’m assuming the head is just deflector and weapons launchers while the blue structure on top is the bridge. I like the BOP flight mode too but the fight mode is the best for fighting. You want forward mounted weapons closer to the center of the ship to improve manual targeting. As much as possible as a backup in battle. It’s the future and they likely have some automation but in a war ship, you need some analog backup to win a battle.

Because of the intensity of the red on the metal toy (ertl I think) I had of the BOP when I came to make the Model kit I decided I really didn't like the red looking that in your face so I toned it down substantially and put a wash on it too to dirty it up - a bright red on the green looked to contrasting to me.. de-staturating it makes the model look more realistic and consistent to my eyes anyway - that is kinda what Lower Decks did too with their CGI Model here... desaturated the red and toned it down so it blends more than contrasts - which I do personally prefer.
