Who needs a starship when you can just send Burnham and her boyfriend on every mission? Just give her a bloody Tardis and get it over with.

She flies. She actually flies now. Flying captain. She’s like a super hero. I mean, she was written like one before but now they actually like her flying. I think the producers and writers are awful human beings but an easier explanation is that they are on coke.

@@ah7910 Good shout! You're absolutely right, who needs a hero ship when you already have the only hero you'll ever need? No starship means no crew and the complications that come with them. The writers can't possibly expand on the lives and feelings of the crew. If they did, they might have to write interesting stories where we find out that not all crew members feel the same way about Burnham as Saru. I think I'd feel pretty resentful of her, were I a crew member. So I permanently left behind my entire life, career and loved ones because travelling to the future was the only way protect the galaxy despite the fact that the threatening evil A.I. was destroyed prior to departure? And how are they all dealing with living in the far future? Why aren't they treated as anachronistic curiosities? Why are these ancients trusted to perform the most crucial missions dealing with existential threats like Species 10-C? No crew member feels overwhelmed by the technological advances they are expected to instantly master? They have no trouble adjusting to life one millennia ahead of their own? Perhaps they will explore these ideas from a non-superhero perspective but I won't hold my breath.

Another season thrown in the trash. It's all about Michael Burnhan. Nothing else is explored. You don't see the interior of the Nog, Kirk, Wonder, Saturn, Voyager J class ships that were presented 2 seasons ago. Nobody knows anything about the other crew members who appear on the bridge: there are no stories to develop the characters, their past, their preferences, hobbies, fears and uncertainties, nothing. There's only room for Jesus Burnhan. All the useless dialogues, all the stories, all the miraculous solutions to all the problems, all the mysteries are hers. This makes the other characters so useless that if you remove them, they won't even be missed in the main plot. It's a one-person show. Selfish, dull. Total waste of time. It's the complete opposite of Strange New Worlds, which has excellent stories and unforgettable characters. As for Discovery, I painfully watch the episodes, skipping ahead and skipping the dialogues to see if there's anything interesting left, something genuine from Star Trek... if there's even 1% left, it's a lot.

I honestly don't see anything anti white men about this episode. Rayner, the most prominent white male actor in the episodes, was the most interesting character. If your upset he comes out of retirement to be Burnhams number one, your reading too much into it. It's supposed to mirror Burnhams 2nd chance.

I agree with the beginning. I actually really liked this. The effects are better, the tone is better, the characters feel better, it might be one of my favorites of the show too. It's almost a shame the show didn't decide to start feeling like this sooner. I liked the downtime at the beginning where the characters are basically just at a party. My one sour note is the backdoor pilot starfleet academy scene felt a bit forced

Its a bit of a coincidence, but its not the first time the Romulans were interested in the technology of the Progenitors, because they did the same thing in the PC video game Star Trek: Hidden Evil and Salome Jens reprised her role as the Ancient humanoid aka Xa-Tal from The Chase, however she does get killed by the Romulans who are interested in the destructive powers of a coveted genetic seed

I too feel like the social aspects of the show side track from the plot. I felt like Book was basically making a cameo because his and Burnham's history was used as a convenient plot device. It's been forever since I saw the D4 finale but my feeling was that they were sort of OK with how he came to accept his judgment. Maybe I'm wrong because after 2 years of their "shipping" I tuned a lot of it out.

I like it, and it felt like a more thought out season arc than the last season. It also has the potential to be world ending but it does not have to because the technology could just be a device that scatters DNA around to Galaxy instead of what people are thinking, which is the ancient seeding device in Stargate.
@ah79108 ай бұрын
We’re one episode in. How can you suggest it’s a better story arc than the previous season. The writing on Discovery is appalling and the only reason this has grabbed out attention, much like Picard would, is because they are referencing prime universe lore than we all miss snd get nostalgic about.
@wingsabre8 ай бұрын
@@ah7910 the prior season has absolutely world ending stakes and ended anti-climatically, or ended in an unsatisfying way. This is less world ending. It has more potential to be open ended, and the tech does not have to be a doomsday device. The progenitors seared life, but they essentially did it in such a passive way where species were allowed to evolve slowly. So there’s way more potential to not have the same pacing and filler issue we had in prior seasons.

This was stupid writing. The dialogue was very, very hard to listen too (sorry, their whispering..). The sand biker chase scene for one. Its like a teenager wrote them. Or Tillys tomance scene. Are they actual adults in this crew? Or little teenagers? They sure act like the latter. And way too much excuses to have action and pew pew scenes. Ships sand diving was also just over the top. I also made the excuse of Burnham being from Kirk era so she is more of a cowboy captain, thus she being on away missions. Basically extremely stupid episode.
