Kyperos is making no sense as usual. Treliving wanted to resign Matthews and Nylander. He doesn't want to resign Marner. That's why he hasn't said it publicly.

This is Leafsnet. There is also Toronto Sportsnet Network. The Leafs are the centre of the hockey universe and your team is existing in it.

@@HandShakeLineRespect ⁠Reread my comment and process it. I’m not asking them to stop talking about the Leafs. My point is, I’m not even a Leafs fan, and I like the hockey content here so much, I’d like it to have its own channel so I can subscribe to that. I’m not subscribing to Sportsnet because it is too broad/general of a channel. I couldn’t care less about baseball, racing, basketball, or cricket. Split the hockey stuff into its own channel and I’d gladly subscribe to that. That’s all I was saying.

For now it seems Treliving has little appetite for extending MM, and would prefer to trade him, and failing that may well be prepared to let him walk as a UFA. So the message about how highly he thinks of Marner as a player, is all about letting everyone know that moving on from Marner is not about the quality of the player, or scapegoating the player, but all about needing to reallocate the Cap dollars to remake the core, by acquiring a bonafide top pair D.

Rumour has it Bertuzzi is open to less AAV with a longer term in Toronto. They can run it back for the right price in my opinion.

Marner is a 99 point player, not 100. Just like you wouldn’t call Matthews a 70 goal scorer. Marner is a star in the REGULAR SEASON only. In the playoffs, he’s a soft and weak overpaid player. 2 assists in 7 games!

3 goals 11 assists, 14 pts and plus 7 in 11 playoff games last year when he wasn't injured.

@@HandShakeLineRespect Marner played 69 regular season games and was put on LTIR in March. He played through a high ankle sprain, unlike Nylander who missed games due to headache and Matthews who missed games for a stomachache. He had 14pts in 11 playoff games last year when he was healthy. Facts

@@gordonbgraham You keep bringing up last years points, but can’t admit how many he’s had in games 5, 6 and 7. There’s a reason so many former NHL players and NHL analysts have said Marner is and has to be traded. Fanboys never learn…but you will once he’s off the team. Either when he’s traded or they let him walk.
