After doing a lot of research these transmissions seem to not like synthetic fluid. I’ve done 2 fluid changes on my 2005 mustang gt with Mercon 1 dex III and haven’t had a single problem with the transmission. People need to stop putting all kinds of crazy synthetic fluids for it. I won’t even use Mercon V.

@KevoZebo i recently changed transmision fluid in my 08 gt. I used mercon V because the Ford dealership suggested to use it. Why do say that u won't use mercon V? Plz explain

@@haroonsayeed211 I have an 08 GT as well. I always used the red mobil 1 bottles of... atf fluid I think? And its been about average for all the years I have. I just switched to the coveted and expensive Royal Purple fluid ($20 a bottle lol) and the tranny is definitely buttery smooth, probably the best its ever been. Theres several other factors for shifting in these mustangs though, like slave cylinder condition (they break a lot lol), brake fluid temperature and wear (I use dot 5.1 for the hot florida climate and it fixed a lot of my weird engagement issues), the clutch line (upgrade to stainless vs fords plastic one that expands), the rubber transmission mount (is it worn?), the motor mounts (stock ones are soft, I still have them on but im about to install some bmr poly ones which sould keep the engine from "torqueing" or moving a lot which will keep shifting better), and also theres a special harder poly bushing you can but for the shifting linkage that replaces the soft rubber one ford has on there. Theres two pieces to it I think, I got it from cj pony parts or late model restoration. And then theres even spacers you can install for the slave cylinder to push it out more but I wouldn't go too far or it can blow out and break.

glad to hear. its not terrible but if you have never done it, it can be a bit terrifying. Take it a step at a time. You will get it!

Edit: tl:dr I decided after watching some other vids that I am just gonna buy more trans fluid and drain it again just incase theres any metal in there or incase the fluid broke down or anything. But I won't rebuild it yet My slave cylinder is dying again on my 08 GT, and it already caused my clutch to not disengage or engage properly which in turn has cause clutch chatter and a rough ride. I have been driving my car for a few weeks like this (I don't drive it every day thankfully but for occasional short trips) and I know my transmission synchros are doing double the work now because its harder to shift and sometimes reverse gear slams in. I hope I haven't shortened the life of my transmission components by too much already, I am hoping to do the clutch job by this week. My drive shaft is on the way out so I have a ford aluminum one standing by and I have the components to set the pinion angle and all of that, and I also have some bmr poly engine mounts ready too. I really can't wait to throw this all in and have my car back up to speed again. I just spent like $550 replacing the ford phasers and solenoids too because one was going out even though it was oem and my engine timing was off. Things are piling up lol. But anyways I am debating on whether its worth looking into rebuilding my tranny or not as a preventative maintenance measure. When the slave cylinder works though, shifting is buttery smooth so maybe its not needed. But I know I have shorted the life of the transmission components at least a little. I did replace the fluid with royal purple back in April, and I am debating on replacing that too one time because of all the rough engaging the transmission has had to deal with in the past few weeks

is there any 3650 rebuild kit? i think my shift fork is gone. second gear doesnt do anythig. cheers

how much can a shop charge for a job like that??? My 3rd gear grinds all the time and its annoying.

nice. my 2005 mustang wont drive into second gear. you engage the second gear, let the clutch and nothing happens. what could that be?

2 hours video learning and 45 min 3and 4 gear replaced from spare trans. need better trans for drag race same s>**t happened again .

I've broken 4 slave cylinders in the last 100 miles of trying to drive the car in normal situations.. traffic. Interstate speeds, nothing crazy.. can anybody ANYBODY tell me how too fix these issue???😑 2005 with a tremec 3650

I would suspect a bad pressure plate on the the clutch. Something isnt happy there.
