Yes this morning's quake was longer and more intense than the one yesterday, but this morning's one was only 6 kms away from my house and yesterday's one was 10 kms north of Malmesbury

Why? Antarctica and Africa were joined together 300 million years ago. India, South America and Australia were also part of this continent. Then when these continents started splitting apart about 180 million years ago some of these faults moved along with the plates. New 9nes also formed during the splitting. They're still active today.

@@loyisomt Firstly there is evidence for it. Secondly, the further back in time you go, the more uncertain the numbers can become. Most of the time though, the times are accurate, maybe not down to the exact day, but close.
