It honestly checks out. According to the lore snippets, even the Archdemons of Hell have to follow their own weird Covenant, and one of it's rules to their slaves is: "A slave/wretch that manages to kill an exemplary or powerful opponent will be granted freedom, in recognition to the First Rebellion enacted by the fallen angels at the beginning of Creation" The comedy of watching a Hell Priest get dunked on by 12 snot-nosed brats is just icing on the hell cake.

I'm so torn between the Black Grail and the Court of the Seven Headed Serpent. I suppose the sliver lining for me is that my favorite unit, the Sin Eaters, can be deployed to either faction as a Mercenary. Still wish I could upgrade a Sin Eater, but I can't help but wonder what one might be able to do with a Sin Eater carrying a friendly Chorister in its gut. The Chorister's hymns penetrate walls, so I find myself wondering if a Sin Eater could safely transport a Chorister to the front lines where it will have far more impact.

The forces of Hell cannot do a full scale attack on Earth, because thatd break the convenant between Heaven and Hell, and God would send Angels. Last time an Angel appeared, it was functionally a small nuke iirc

the only reason why inferno didn't take over Earth yet in this storyline is because of infighting between their forces. Humans on the other hand had to reunify their Orthodox and Catholic factions to keep them at bay.

While the forces of hell sound terrible, remember that when the gate opened in 1066 all we had were swords and catapults. We shouldn't have been wiped at that point but weren't. Seems like these forces are very tough to get rid of, but with very few breakthrough in 850 years, their offense is lacking.

This really makes me curious as to what happened with Lucifer, given that The Fly is often seen as his direct subordinate and aide. Maybe when Lucifer fell, he BECAME Hell itself (or at least the portion that demons rule, namely the nine circles) which is why most of the anomalies in Hell revolve around an inversion of God’s will?

I will say this in respect to the power of Heaven(in this lore), hell seems to be very determined to avoid provoking heaven into direct intervention. Which lends to the fact it wouldn’t be an equal fight. I only say this because people have commented that god isn’t all powerful in this version of our world. If that were the case I’d imagine hell would unleash, well…hell onto humanity.

This seems like as a good a place as any to post this. The artist that inspired a lot of the artwork for this game is a dude named Wayne Barlow, he paints a ton of hellscapes and such and wrote a book with pretty much this game's version (sorry scanner, I forgot this word when I wrote this the first time) Beelzebub as the big bad. Since they are taking so much inspiration from him I wouldn't be surprised if there was a traitor demon legion on god's side led by a demon named (I'm going to spell this wrong) Saargatanus. Let's see if I end up correct.

@scannerbarkly truth be told, other than a demon who looks like a big ol fly with skull printed on his wings from the codex gigas, not all that much. But there are a lot of parallels from TCs Beelzebub and Wayne Barlow beezelbub, trying to usurp Satan's kingdom, has his own private city that's a cesspool of disease, has flys that infect people to do what he wants be they human or demon or dog. As is usual for me, I probably could have worded it better, but I stand by my hope we will get a traitor demon army.

Mate, Beelzebub is a Philistine god and before that was an old Mesopotamian god, and he is referenced couple of times in the Bible. Both Barlowe and TC are drawing from exactly the same thing, hence the similarities. You post kinda of implies you think Barlowe came up with Beelzebub.

I think the version of beelzebub from God's Demon that Wayne Barlow portrayed influenced the beelzebub in TC. Along with a whole lot of other influences Barlow had on TCs asthetic and world building. I'm hoping those influences carry along to the traitor demon army I keep blabbing on about, which is mostly just me hoping I can play a lore accurate traitor demon army led by Saargatanus (still not sure I'm spelling that correctly).
