The lore i think states that in can be soldiers particularly page 70 the Ethiopia part. But it does say "It is a matter of pride and prestige to the House of Solomon that the tithe to New Antioch is met punctually. So once in seven years the Negarit war drums sound the kitet, the call to arms. The volunteers gather at Axum, the spiritual capital of the nation, where the Ark of the Covenant is said to be kept" so i think one could argure that maybe the volunteers of soldiers is more extra on top of whatever they give. So who knows. I love your videos btw keep being amazing

Yeah sounds like it! Or if anything this confirms different practices between regions. Or they have a regular recruitment drive. Mainly over the idea of the more grimdark option where some dude comes in and just does some forced conscriptions lol. It still at least sounds like New Antioch doesn't partake in that practice as of now. Either way I didn't see this lore blurb and I appreciate the extra context.

Honestly agreed! I can see a fun version where each areas's gov has a different method of fulfilling the tithe. Some darker than others, some more fun. I picture Alba's (Scotland) being more like "You have a system to pay the tithe? Nerds." As they have thousand upon thousands of soldiers already landing on New Antioch to crack some heretic skulls.

Im imaging it being a way to introduce tribes from the Americas in small fun ways like the Anishinaabe. Who would view Mammon with such hate because they would view part of ethos (i.e. eating humans) greed/want for exceese and forbidden treasures of flesh as a wendigo like corruption

A few small things I have been thinking about the metachrist. 1. How much do you have to each for mutation to occur and is it proportional to the amount eaten? 2. Can the metameat be mass produced for emergency berserker MREs? 3. What happens if you feed some to an animal? 4. Is the one eating being baptised first a factor?

I actually worked in an armor factory that has been making armor for law enforcement and the military sense WW2 and there is actually a lot of science as to why we do use midevil plate armor and why it sucks at absorbing kinetic energy and cartridges. Plate armor is designed to deflect and not absorb on top of that it is a lot more expensive. However fantasy and science fiction go the path of cool and figure it out later. Plate armor just looks badass and grimdark.

True! Theres a lot of legitimate reasons we moved away from it. I know we actually have some museum pieces of breastplate with muskets impacts in it showing what you described. Also sounds like what you're saying is similar to the same development we had with cars. Designing protection based on impact absorption based on crumple zones. Which makes sense cause we understand how physics works way more now.

The plate armor in Trench Crusade explicitly involves supernatural forces, so it’s not plate armor as we understand it.

Its people opinion and I respect that but I think they are just not bland in the slightest. Like yea in comparison to the demons that break the laws of reality they don't look too crazy but something about how they perfectly mixed WW1/2 soldiers with medieval armour is on another level. The Praetors and such do look insanely cool but man those Shocktroopers just make me feel good looking at them.

Some people think the aesthetic is a bit bland but as a Imperial Guard lover from 40k and just a real army geek with multiple RTS games of every kind on my desktop i just love the knights mixed with WW2 and WW1 equipment, i mean the ISU-152 with a witch pyre on it and the New Antioch Shocktroopers are absolutely up my alley

Which that is why I try to be super precise in how I word my opinion on New Antioch. I might not vibe with them visually, but they aren't badly designed. It starts and ends in a personal bias. They're objectively very cool. Honestly mean it that I think weaker designers would have made a faction like New Antioch the boring vanilla faction.

Considering TC military tech is in between WW1 to late WW2/early cold war(aircraft), the limited availability of oil, and when and how the metal was discovered (1503 with divine help with modifications added along the way), this makes a lot more sense

Also, the metals New Antioch uses has a kind of light bullet repelling blessings on them. Their armours don’t just stop bullets, they make it less likely for the wearer to even get shot at all.

Game rules are free and will stay free on their website. www.trenchcrusade.com/playtest-rules Official models are going live soon now that the Kickstarter is over! You can get 3d prints for significantly cheaper or buy full models that they'll ship. But that costs a bit more. Or you can make your own. They fully endorse kitbashing or 3rd party stuff. Or just saying a model of a similar size/base size is whatever thing you wanna play with lol. Its way less rigid than Warhammer.
