I had s bad experience in 2019 at an Anita Baker concert in Las Vegas. Anita ruined her own show by constantly complaining to us the audience about how her band wasn't sounding right. She would start a song, then stop and complain. It was so uncomfortable for everyone involved. BET executive Stephen Hill was a part of the show and I could tell he didn't understand all this drama. Only thing she had to do was just perform and us as the audience wouldn't have noticed anything. 🤦🏾🤦🏾

As an avid concert goer and someone who’s seen her show once, most concerts I’ve been to there hasn’t been an issue with the audience phones. Some performers would actually ask the audience to take their phones and shine their flashlight as of replicate a candlelight vigil. Also back in the day, it was easier to enforce a ban on recording devices because you’d have to actually bring a tape recorder in. But if an artist is going to ban phones today it must be done a certain way it’s certainly not during the concert. I saw her just before Covid at Radio City which is a relatively small venue for concerts where they certainly could’ve banned phones but they made no issue whatsoever. Anita was fine and no drama coming from anywhere. A little more recent I attended a Bruno Mars concert at a much larger. Phones were banned but in a very organized fashion everyone was issued a secured pouch to store your phone which was unlocked after the show.

Wow, she’s all over YT lately. Look, I love the woman’s voice and music, own most of her albums, and was the only suburban white guy in tenth grade listening to Rapture nonstop when it hit in 1986-87. Unfortunately, just a couple years later when her next album was released I recall hearing or reading some “difficult” rumors and being disappointed. "Concert culture" now is annoying. it's like flossing.. or trying to have dinner with someone who insists on having their phone out.. group chatting and sending photos of whats on the plate.. that's more important to them than engaging with the person who is sitting there in front of them. Then they throw their blurry, bad sounding videos with horrible footage of people's heads and waving hands, online. I remember when i frequently went to all kinds of different shows (Music, Dance concerts.. whatever).. & they told you before the show "Recording is NOT allowed".. & you accepted that. Recording a performance is stealing. They're stealing concert footage that the artist might want to package and sell later (it's an artist intellectual PROPERTY). NOW, "Concert culture".. wants to condone stealing. Doing a selfie moment is one thing. But y'all know. you can find WHOLE concerts online taken by fans, It's stealing.. & the thieves are empowered with the right to complain that the artist don't accept the robbery.. Lol. Well it took a "Diva" to set them straight.. Anita.. eternal blessings.

I separate her talent from her as a person. While it's true she has a beautiful voice, for many years since right after her divorce in (2017) she's consistently been reported to be difficult, mean, hard to work with, verbally abusive, unprofessional, chronically late starting her concerts and petty AF. Where there's smoke, there's fire. Atleast some of that has to be true. She's aware of the rumors and still she behaves the same way. No happy person behaves the way she does. Hurt people hurt those around them. Not that it's an excuse but perhaps she's had a lot of trauma or pain in her life that she's never dealt with. You never know what someone is going through. Whatever she's going through has been happening for yearssssss and has made her bitter🤷🏽‍♀️

I went to her Chicago 2023 concert. The performance was boring. The United Center was too large of a venue for her. She has no stage presence.
