They also popularized characters goods (like BTS HipHop monsters, BT21, Funko BTS POP, TinyTan..) now I've seen a lot of groups making their own character and stuff too. I've been an army since 2016 but I used to listen to other kpop groups like 2NE1, SNSD and BING BANG way before and yes, I can confirm they trended all of these things. I saw a lot of changes and similarities, especially since 2017 that was when Bangtan won Top Social artist on the BBMAs. BTS will be always trendsetters 🔥 I really admire all the creativity and hard work that BigHit, the staff and the members put to survive. They literally made k-pop more fun interactive with fans. For a reason, there's no bigger connection and affection than BTS and ARMY have. The guys genuinely care about their fans and want to be close and just natural. 🥺💜💜 BTS and ARMY are literally blueprint and I can't help but laugh every time some kpopie denies the BTS PAVED THE WAY because hello??! it's not something the fandom just invented tho, it's a fact. 💀💀

As an Army and a Beyhive it’s crazy to me that Beyoncé is the sole reason that people release albums on fridays ever since she dropped her self titled album on a Friday in 2013. To see that BTS are the ones that popularized it for Korean artists is so satisfying to me 🥰
@btsonyeonsam2 жыл бұрын
and this doesnt even include other things like them being the reason kpop albums are sold in targets and walmarts etc. and other regular retail stores in other countries. before bts if you didnt have a local kpop store you likely could only buy albums online from korean stores. armys used to request those stores like crazy until they eventually started stocking bts albums, and now you can find pretty much any kpop artist's albums in those stores (and all of them have become hanteo certified stores in the years since 2017).

Now ten years later they want them on their talk shows variety shows & award shows. Thankfully our babies are humble kings because I woulda said 'HELL NO!' to every single one of them without hesitation. They are legends & will continue to be trendsetters forever. There’s a reason why they said BTS pave the way. Also I once watched an economists said that Twitter was technically about to die cause many people prefer to go to other platform but BTS make it so popular with their huge demographic of armies that the level of engagement raise so much. Twitter love BTS & Armies. Also, the fact that they choose to release their own variety show and even do online concert at their own platform are such a daring move. Jin once said, “BTS have to be the first” and I agree with him cause BTS have make it possible for the rest of them (despite some choose not to acknowledge it but we all knows). Also I think BoraCity would need to add that BTS is also the one that sold out stadiums with exclusively their fan. You need be a members so even buy a ticket.

The interesting and funny thing is, bts popularity rise was pretty much like those of a twitch/content creator. Back in 2013, very little people believed that you can make a living off of online content. Yet now, we are involved in internet communities more than ever. Bts used the power of these internet spaces. Idk, maybe they had a hunch of how important it will be in the future.

kpop stans don't give not even 1% of credit to BTS' efforts, it pissed me off. i remember after Fake Love there was a wave of dark + harness concepts going on with other groups; after BWL some boygroups abandoned their tough concepts and went all pink and light; after Dynamite maaany groups tried to go on the disco pop (sometimes in english) wave to get that US recognition. and speaking of that, BTS popularized the "standard" way of promoting in the west, from dropping albums on Fridays to going on GMA, late night talk shows, being nominated on western award shows because, thanks to BTS, there are now kpop categories in most of western award shows (because those award shows refuse to include BTS in their major categories, most of the time, so they wanted to separate them somehow without causing commotion for not nominating the biggest group in the world) there's also a wave of "borrowing" BTS' lyrics right after they release something. Life Goes On, Butter and Yet to Come got some "nods" in other group's songs. some very laughable variations *cough cough * NCT's Life is Still Going On *cough cough *

This video is the reason why I always laugh at haters whenever I say "BTS paved the way" and that "Kpop revolves on BTS" because they set the trends. Whatever BTS do, other groups copy it. It is so funny to me seriously. I would like to add something. Mass streaming in KPOP was also invented/popularized by BTS and ARMYs. The most viewed MV in 24 hours record in yt also became significant because BTS themselves set the first record with Blood, Sweat and Tears. Since then, armys started to create "streaming goals" in different platforms which was adapted by different kpop artists/fandoms nowadays. Even the retro music/theme trend in Kpop 2020 was due to Dynamite's success.

People assume BTS did all these "trends" at that time because they only focus on view counts and social media, but the reality is kpop media weren't giving them any attention and or inviting them to shows, so they had to create their own avenue to connect with fans!
@jerseygirl62212 жыл бұрын
It's funny that Seb mentioned how normal some of these things are, but I think that's just it. These somewhat normal things weren't done or weren't popularized before because the industry was still completely focused on making the idols out to be perfect and above normality. BTS helped bring that down to earth feeling into the industry, especially with the documentaries.

@treeoflife99602 жыл бұрын
Exo actually were the first group to debut with a fictional storyline in 2012, Red Velvet followed in 2014. BTS and other groups started to adapt fictional storylines around 2015 to their concepts because of Exo's massive success. It became more and more a thing because it never failed for any group. This whole fictional storyline thing is an invention by SM and the initiator for their SMCU/Kwangya thing that they have going on.
@lachimie54562 жыл бұрын
@@treeoflife9960 yes but i think BTS Universe are the most popular and unique because their storyline even includes books, MVs, games, Notes from the albums and many more resources to understand and connect all the dots. Hats off to Big Hit as they are so genius with this ideas.
@treeoflife99602 жыл бұрын
@@lachimie5456 and how many groups with storytelling concepts do you know well enough to know in what form they are telling their story to be able to come to a conclusion like that? Exo has used all sources you mentioned above (exept for a game, maybe) and more. And I'm positive that other groups do so as well. Don't give credit to Bighit for these things unless you did your research and can prove what exactly they came up with. Statements like this can very easily lead to fanwars.

And on top of all of this, BTS still gets hate. They'll probably still get hate after they retire the band. But perhaps a comforting thought though is that BTS absorbed all of that initial hate (like a bulletproof vest) so that it might help new KPop bands in the future, especially in the department of xenophobia. Again, there will still be hate, just perhaps a little bit less, all because of BTS, unbeknown to many, much like how this video showed how BTS paved the way for many things but not many were aware of it. It's just like RM once said, that BTS will try to lessen your pain a little bit even if only by 1, 2 or 3% less. BTS will lessen global xenophobia, Asian or not, by about the same percentage, if not more.
