The thing with England’s Golden Generation of talent that had Steven Gerrard Wayne Rooney Frank Lampard David Beckham Ashley Cole Rio Ferdinand Paul Scholes etc it was great on paper, but collectively they never functioned well as a team. Gerrard was the face of Liverpool, Lampard was the face of Chelsea and Wayne Rooney was the face of Manchester United in their peak they dominated the premier league and were absolute ballers, but for some reason when it came to the international scene they fell short. When you’re building a team, the thing is that you can have a lot of talent individually as that’s important, but that alone doesn’t guarantee you anything especially since that wasn’t a team to be honest it was a bunch of individuals that never truly clicked. You look at that England team vs for example Portugal’s EURO winning team in 2016, throughout the tournament they only won 1 game in 90 minutes and apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, that team wasn’t good on paper and with the knockout format of these competitions, other factors play a massive role in whether a star studded team works more than just how good it is on paper. The current England squad on paper with Harry Kane Jude Bellingham Phil Foden Bukayo Saka etc it looks very good as once again a very talented squad, but have absolutely no excuses if they don’t win the EUROs in the summer. They have good players but overall their team isn’t that good and individuals they seem to always paper over the cracks that England have in the team right now. Even though many of their players are enjoying stellar seasons at their respective clubs right now, we see the same script with England over and over again, there’s optimism that they’ll finally end their long international trophy drought just for them to crumble at a major tournament and there’s a feeling that the same thing is going to happen and history will repeat itself. England’s most talented team on paper, good players, but not a good team and individuals alone can’t win you big trophies.

The main reason the Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard axis never worked is it was too top heavy, Scholes was played out of position on the left and Lampard and Gerrard never worked as a midfield pairing as they were too similar in the role they played for their clubs

To me the solution is simple. Trent should be the long term cdm, functioning as a deep lying midfield playmaker. He actually tackles well in midfield, and recovers possession. The disrespect to Trent is unbelievable. Bradley is great but cmon what are we talking about. It’s like the same people who want to sell Alisson and keep kelleher. Strange stuff to say the least. A scouser that embodies everything that is right with the club, why would you sell him. Since when do we sell or Englishmen when there are also quotas to meet.

And as retaliation, Matteo Moretto of Relevo, a Madrid-based news outlet, leaked the specific fact that Madrid is monitoring Alexander-Arnold. This gives Real Madrid the upper hand in the situation, as it's a possible free transfer while Rodrygo's could exceed 100M. The cleverness in this is that Real Madrid is always monitoring potential targets and their contract situation in secret, but now that the spotlight falls on Arnold and Liverpool, they're immediately under pressure to make a decision. And Relevo would technically not be lying either. It's genius.

Real Madrid must never offer a contract to these players for a RIGHT BACK position, that are inconsistent, poor defensively, has disadvantage of height and strength (lacks muscles), proven already that unable to stop wingers/strikers in different leagues, injury-prone, has beyond 60 million euro's transfer-market value, and ageing 27 years old and above, and turning 27 years old and above on year 2027. Many people believe that Trent Alexander Arnold isn’t leaving Liverpool, I don’t see that happening, but if it ever does then he is exactly what Real Madrid needs at right back. Everyone will say, “oh he can’t defend”, we know that, but they’re in need of a right back, as amazing of a player Dani Carvajal has been for this team, the guy is 32 he’s aging not getting any younger and he can’t play forever that’s not possible. What he offers them going forward is exactly what Real Madrid has been lacking in the fullback position since Marcelo and attacking wise he’s on another level because of his playmaking and ability to create chances out of nowhere and does it from so many areas of the field as a fullback. Imagine Trent playing through passes to Mbappe and Vinicius Junior every time. While on defense, there’s a lot of question marks about it, if you look at the personnel that Real Madrid has in midfield with the likes of Camavinga Tchuoameni and Valverde what they offer is a lot of energy and stamina meaning that when he’s going forward, he has other players that can cover the ground and make up for his defensive shortcomings. The local lad from the Liverpool academy has been living the dream growing up from their ranks and is a key player for them and has made a mark for them big time. A lot of people believe that English players can only do it in the Premier League, and to me this narrative isn’t true. Jude Bellingham was killing it for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and has enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Real Madrid, Harry Kane has been the best striker in the Premier League for so long, you can say whatever you want about his “trophy curse” but he can’t stop scoring and he’s dominating the Bundesliga right now and this is proof that players from England can have success outside of the Premier League and do well playing abroad. For players, you want to stay at your local club for your entire career, there’s also a feeling of getting out of your comfort zone and while Trent Alexander Arnold has had success at Liverpool, don’t rule out a move to Real Madrid in the future as in football anything can happen.
