What’s most refreshing about this is that instead of choosing the typical classical melodies to build the tension, they used trance music. It’s about time award ceremonies start to acknowledge electronic music because the soundtrack of this film carried.

This is genuinely one of the best musical tracks in a movie in a long time. My only issue with the way the music is utilized in this movie is that there are times where it is louder than the dialogue and I couldn’t hear anything. During the tennis matches though this was awesome!
@cbielgib7117 күн бұрын
Well, that's the point.
@OrionInSpace17 күн бұрын
@@cbielgib71 that is literally not the point quite frankly, that’s the opposite of what you’re supposed to do. The whole point of dialogue is for you to hear it and not be drowned out by the music.
@SORIANSIST16 күн бұрын
I agree that it slightly drowns out the dialogue but if you listen super carefully you'll notice that as soon as the song kicks in mid-conversation their voices are simultaneously increased in the mix. You can catch everything they're saying despite the music, granted youre listening pretty closely lol @@OrionInSpace
@Frogs9516 күн бұрын
@@OrionInSpace I agree with the other dude that it's on purpose. They play that OST during the matches and heated conversations - as an analogy. So it's supposed to feel like they are running on adrenaline, unable to hear each other and just firing shots non-stop - just like their matches. That was my interpretation anyway, I think the general rule of understandable dialog being important is of course correct when it comes to other movies, but here I think it serves a point - felt like it was obvious, otherwise they WOULD mix it in a more traditional way. Personally, I felt like that was a nice original idea.

Even if you don't know anything about tennis, the film is easy to understand. We follow the coexisting rivalry and friendship of two athletes who love the same woman. Although there are no real sex scenes, there's work on the bodies, and an erotic and sporting tension. Their bodies are put to the test, but they connect and enjoy each other. The woman, like the 2 men, has a complex personality, both beneficial and ambiguous to the trio. The music and the staging of the confrontations, on and off the pitch, are superbly staged. We clung to our seats fearing the winner and the relationship implications. A true romantic filler, with no silliness, and with a budget that serves the staging, and a message about complex relationships.

The bassline is an appropriation of that of "How the West was Really Won" from their "Watchmen" soundtrack. The same low, ominous, three-chord brown note, but accelerated and discofied with strings. Making that danceable is hiliarious, but also turns something menacing into what some people will will be moving to in 2030.
