As a musician, it's easy to say, "Oh, this song I'm writing needs a band, then it will sound good!" This song reminds me that that is not true. A single instrument can be all that you need to capture all of a song's feeling and emotion. Great job as always!

I use to listen to Atticus Ross in the gym before I knew who he was about 10-12yrs ago. They were just some tracks I found & collected from somewhere that I thought were thrilling. That’s most enjoyable to find out he’s working with Trent Reznor, both have a way of invoking certain tones of emotions. 👍🏻

Trent is back.... finally Better then studio version, Trent is a A beast live, copy of a, satellite and this song live are great. I like that 3 song combo for 2013-2017 NIN. Trent still has talent, he is best live. Money is the root of all evil, a necessary one (still evil). It's the journey not the destination. Just be kind to other people. We all have our bad days, but have compassion for life. Lead by example. Actions speak louder then words, so be a shinning light in a dim room. Let your love guide you. Heart break is part of that, but the bitter isn't as sweet without the bitter. You need to feel pain to feel love and joy. Don't hate people, just dislike their actions. Remember your past but don't be burdned by it. Use it to fuel you. Don't run on fumes, let the love and light inside you shine. Shine like a multi-color diamond In a world full of Coal - Dave

"Bitter isn't as sweet without the bitter, you need to feel pain to feel love and joy.." Exactly. It's all full circle. No matter how awful the emotion feels, it has its place. There has to be Bad, so you can have Good. There cannot be Happiness without Sorrow, as people wouldn't understand one without the other. All the bad you had in your life defines you, shapes you, makes you into who and what you are today. All the good makes you appreciate, love and value what you have. And while it may sometimes seem that you have nothing, it is there, you just can not see it.

A song is intended to elicit emotions. From start to finish. This may not have the clichéd format of most popular songs, but I personally can't claim that it has any less of an impact on me than that of a song with an expected intro, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, bridge, outro.

With many more 'chorus' and 'bridges' thrown in, as is standard practice.

not to sound mean but i hope Trent would get rid of ross. every album since the fragile all took a major down turn. nin is my all-time inspiration and love and i do still like the newer stuff but we can't keep lying to ourselves saying this shit is so amazing. yes its ok but seriously the fragile and everything before it were masterpieces and still all give me chills listening to, you can feel and get lost into the journey whilst with teeth and anything after all sound very similar to each other and don't reach the heart the same way. trust me i love nin so fucking much that i used to defend and say every time a newer album comes out that it's amazing but i can't lie anymore atticus makes Trent write very generically compared to without him. But Trent is still amazing and spot on in concert so that makes up for the post fragile music except for that they use up a decent amount of their setlists with newer songs which could be used for the fragile, broken, tds, and phm.
@chrissie98657 жыл бұрын
Year Zero and The Slip are pretty good in my opinion and Not The Actual Events and Add Violence are awesome (Plus you should listen to the song Kalopsia by Queens Of The Stone Age because he had a heavy hand in the production and has a vocal part) but I think the thing with NIN is Trent is no longer the whacked out, depressed guy he portrayed himself as in the 90s, after The Fragile he cleaned himself up in rehab and I think he failed in trying to keep the music just as dirty and angsty as he was before but he failed because that wasn't the same guy. I think that's what makes these new EPs so great, he's accepted musically he's no longer a guy that's gonna make another record like The Downward Spiral, but he breathes new life into music that could've been from his peak, but as the 52 year old music veteran that's made film scores and basically runs Apple Music
@terry85mar7 жыл бұрын
The King Of Limbs it has nothing to do with the depression and hate i just don't feel the music like i did with everything from the fragile and earlier. Year zero and hesitation marks are very good but still. I'm disappointed with their setlists this year. Mainly just playing radio hits. But when he does play old stuff live to this day i do feel it the same as the album. That's one thing about Trent he gets so into his music i think he chooses not to play a lot of old stuff because it fucks with his head having to relive it each night on stage. He's my hero and idol and i love him no matter what but forme being a 26 year old male i just relate (no, live is the word) the first 4 albums and there are many songs off tds and fragile that cause me way too much mental stimulation and i can't help my eyes from tearing up, it's almost too much sometimes but that is what i want when i listen to a song not just listening to it.
